Hi everyone,

I have a rather large stone that I''m trying to sell locally. The jeweler I have it with weighed the stone outside of the setting. It is a 3.94 color I, clarity I2. I''m just wondering what is a fair price. I''ve had a few offers but I don''t know enough to feel secure in it and I''d really love your help.

Most of the visible inclusions are "feathers" with only a small black fleck one. The ring is plat with 2 smaller diamonds.

Thanks for your time!

Honestly I would have it appraised by a *trusted* independent appraiser (one who is not affiliated with a jewelry store) and go from there. They will be able to help you far more than us-especially after seeing it in person.

I just did a quick search for a stone with your specs. I only found one here and it''s a 4.08 I2 with an EGL cert. I take it yours doesn''t have a cert? The price for the stone I linked is only 6800. I would think you can get about half, maybe..

If i were you, I''d ask the jeweler if you can consgin it with him. You may get more that way.

Definitely get an independant appraisal. Tell them your purpose in getting an appraisal and they will be able to suggest a suitable selling price.
