I found a great Asscher cut diamond with a 1.05 length to width ratio (6.87*6.57*4.53). Will that appear square to the human eye? Or would someone be able to tell that it''s not square. I''m looking at a ruler and 0.3mm is pretty small. Thanks!!

have you seen it in person?
if not have pictures? post em please
1.05 is the point where some people can see it.

I am looking at my sliding gauge and .3mm is pretty small. I would doubt anybody would notice such a small difference especially after the stone is set. I would expect that people would see it as square.

I think you''ll be able to notice it, though I don''t think others will. Just make sure the set it the way you like. My asscher is 6.54 x 6.40 and I can see that it''s not quite square, but that''s ony because I''ve measured it and stare at it all the time, haha. it''s set with the 6.54 going e/w and the 6.40 going n/s and sometimes I wonder if I should have set it the other way. Look at it loose in the setting both ways and figure out which you like more...

According to the princess AGA cut chart here on Pricescope, the "ideal range" of the length width ratios are .95-1.05. You are the the upper most portion of the ideal range but if otherwise the diamond is exactly what you want I would not discard it for this reason.

I doubt that most people would notice the difference.

Here is an exact length to width ratio image created by the Shape Selector tool which I had programmed several years ago. You can test any length to width ratio of nearly any shape diamond with it. It is a free download or available on the web for use.

The Shape Selector is a part of the AGA-NAJA Cut Class grading tool screen.
