Hello Pricescopers,

I have been bouncing back and forth between these two diamonds and would like to pull the trigger ASAP. They are both G VS1 stones and both right around .85cts and h&a. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!! They both look very similar to me, but as you can imagine I want to ensure I get the best stone possible.

The specs for each diamond are as follows:

Diamond #1

Depth % 61.7
Table % 55.6
Crown Angle 34.9
Star 53.0
Pavilion Angle 40.8
Crown % 15.5
Lower Girdle % 77.0
Measurements 6.10x6.12x3.77
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

Diamond #2

Depth % 61.1
Table % 57.4
Crown Angle 34.9
Star 54.0
Pavilion Angle 40.9
Crown % 14.9
Lower Girdle % 76.0
Measurements 6.10x6.15x3.75
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

i like #1.. i am a sucker for small table with high crown.. ::)

definitely diamond #1 as it got a better result according to HCA tool.

Thank you both for your replies. It was my understanding that the HCA was used to help eliminate stones, not to make a final decision. Both stones score under 2, but you are right diamond #1 definitely scores better. Are there any other reasons you would prefer diamond #1 move1986? Does having a small table with a high crown give you great light performance? I hope this is what Dancing Fire is referring to :). If anyone has any opinions or would like to chime in that would be greatly appreciated.

IMO..it gives you more fire.

Well I'm certainly glad to hear that. I definitely want to have plenty of fire :). I have also posted some pics of the setting I am leaning towards. My GF has described her dream setting as being delicate and simple. I feel that this setting accomplishes both and also adds a little bling!!! What do you guys think?

I don't like it. It's prongy and likely to be uncomfortable to wear and it's got a peg head. And it's not delicate.

What's your setting budget? What metal do you like?

Thank you for your feedback. That's disappointing that you do not think it is delicate or comfortable. I'm just curious, but what do you mean by to prongy? Anyways, I am looking at platinum settings with around a $1,500 budget and would really like one from WF, because that is where I will be purchasing the diamond from. Could you link some suggestions from their site?

Oh and one more question, what is a peg head?

Peg head means that the ring is actually comprised of two different pieces of metal, and I agree. That setting looks too..bulky? It'll overpower the diamond.

Compare the head on the setting you linked to this one:

Can you see how the lines are different holding the diamond? It makes the head look less like a destroyer! I also like this setting best, it has a delicate head and four little surprise diamonds.

A bit nicer than the one you posted in a similar style:

These two I like better but platinum puts them out of your budget unless you consider white gold.

..I still like the first one though :). Simple, delicate and yet has a little zing.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of that setting either. As for "prongy" the prongs seem to overpower the side stones.

If you want a little extra bling and want platinum, I would recommend this: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagemen...en-cathedral-diamond-engagement-ring-1539.htm. It's $1495 so right at your budget! I would also ask if they could switch out that head and use the Legato Sleek Line head because and it appears that it might be easy to switch out. I just personally love the Legato head! Ask WF how much of a price difference there would be to do this. :lickout: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagemen...-sleek-line-solitaire-engagement-ring-728.htm

I really like this one. http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/comfort-fit-surprise-diamond-ring-183.htm Gives her LOTS of options for wedding bands. Pretty surprise stone in the profile for a little bit of discreet bling. And under budget. This would be my choice, personally because it will give her the most options for her wedding band and you can afford to buy it in platinum.

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/legato-sleek-line-solitaire-engagement-ring-728.htm Classic and elegant and also allows you get the setting in platinum under budget.
