A quick search in the PS database shows a number of ideal stones in this range for similar prices. You didn't post dimensions or angles, which would affect the spread and the sparkle, so I guess it depends on how your local stones compare to the online ones on whether they are a comparable deal or not. Nothing wrong with buying locally, as long as you know what you are getting, and make an informed decision. I would ask for copies of the certs and a full sarin report on the stones. Then you will have the data to know how they compare. The fact that they look good through an idealscope is a very good sign. If you think you've seen enough stones to know what you like, let your eyes be the guide.

I have looked at about 20 stones with the scope so far. some good and some very not good ones. I think I have a good feel for what the scope shows me.

I have also been able to see the certs. He dosen't have a sarin report on them.

This maybe nothing but my main concern with the top stone is the Thin to SLTK girdle. Is that a problem?
