My mom is looking for a new diamond ring and her only requirement is big. I asked if sparkly was important. Sure, she said, but I want big. I tried reasoning with her that $8,000 wasn’t going to buy her big and sparkly. I explained to her that she was getting older, and sooner or later she was going to kick the bucket so we needed to compromise on cut and size since someday I’d be sporting her ring on my grubby little hands. *** She knows I’m just kidding *** She listened as I explained how important cut was. She even injected “mmmhmm, yeah, ok” at all the appropriate places and **gasp** horror of all horrors she still wants size over cut. She finally agreed that some of the big diamonds she saw weren’t that pretty and didn’t sparkle, but she didn’t want to take the time to search for a “pretty” ring in her price range. Can you tell that diamonds really aren’t her thing? I told her with some help from PS I will find her a diamond. Here is what I’m looking for:
•A rb with a great cut (doesn’t have to be ideal since obviously she doesn’t care, but would like it to be close as possible)
•SI2 or even a good I1 (she said she’s half blind even with her glasses, so as long as people can’t see the inclusions when they look at her ring she is ok with whatever)
•Color I-M or maybe even N with some fluorescence(she said she is willing to sacrifice color for size and sparkle and she wears yellow gold)
•As big as she can get
She has been given a deadline by my dad of December 17th.
