I think I have decided on a center stone for the engagement ring but need some assistance with selecting a setting. Currently, I am considering these options:

#1: https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/...l-pave-with-truth-head-18k-white-gold-5360w18

#2: https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/...stones/eternal-grace-with-pave-platinum-5822p

#3: https://www.michaelmcollection.com/Michael-M-Engagement-Rings/Crown/R716-2/28002678/EN

I spoke with the rep at BGD and they offered to custom-build me #3, but did warn of potential durability issues if the person has an active lifestyle.

This is the diamond that I am planning to pair it with: https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.138-f-vvs1-round-diamond-bfg-785891

Any recommendations/thoughts on the above items would be appreciated. Thank you.

I personally like both of the settings from BGD but probably prefer the truth head but if you wanted one with stones in the basket I think the Grace is very nice. I custom made one a while back with diamonds in the basket and not sure I liked it as much as I thought I would after it was all said and done. I recently got a halo and I am completely happy with it but I have always been a fan of the truth head. Having said all that what I can say for sure if the melee from BGD is awesome, it is amazing how much bling can come from such small stones. And your diamond looks like a beautiful choice, I am sure you will be amazed by it.

I vote Grace. Always feel like a basket is a little more protective for banging that stone around(I'm a hand talker and a banger). Both are simply beautiful-either will thrill!

#3 reminds me of a "floating basket" type setting like the one in these videos:

I'm assuming this would offer more support/durability and you still get that unique flare with an elegant and traditional solitaire setting.

(Here are a couple blurry screenshots from the videos)

it partly depends on the wearer's lifestyle and how hard she is on her rings. i'm prone to knocking my rings on things so while i like the silhouettes of #1 &3, of these choices i'd go with #2 b/c it looks the most durable. with pave on the shank and basket it will still need to be treated gently. #1 would be a no b/c the head looks to join the shank at 1 point. #3 is set very high and offers less protection for the stone.

What a gorgeous diamond you’ve chosen!

Grace, for beauty *and* protection. Maybe set a bit lower if possible.

She’s gonna love it !!

Your diamond is gorgeous, so homerun there! I have a BG diamond and setting and I love it! Both BG options are gorgeous. I am partial to the truth head pave, it's very romantic with the heart detail. Another option you may want to check which is very close to the fishtail, is the Dream, you still get the gorgeous truth head but the diamond sits lower. It is soo comfortable! You've got a winner with BG and your ring is just going to be stunning!

Your chosen diamond is stunning, and beautiful. It will knock her socks off. Congratulations!
Regarding your settings, stating the obvious but these are just my opinions.
1. Truth: dainty and with beautiful melee. Nice thin shank. My issue is the transition from the shank to the head. Rather abrupt. The head itself is very pretty, with the swoop of the prongs. But it looks like the head just got shoved into an eternity ring. I would prefer something with a more graceful transition. Note that you can wear a diamond band flush with the ering. Some people prefer that. I don't but many do. I personally want melee in the prongs because most of the time I see the side of my ring rather than having a direct top down view. Seeing some bling on the side is prettier to me. I learned this after having a plain shank solitaire for a year.
2. Grace: I like this with the donut (base) at the bottom of the head. This can allow the diamond to be set lower. And I appreciate the cathedral sides to allow the eye to see a transition to the shank.
3. Michael M: The transition from shank to head is too incongruous for me. It's cool. But over time I think I will want a ring that flows better. Also, from the top down, I think I will want more delicate claws. The shape of the claws draws my eye away from stone, when it should do exactly the opposite. And for that price, I want hand forged.

Anyhoo, these are my thoughts. Of the three above I would choose Grace.

I would prefer this:
