i am very close to buying a 2.5 radiant but the length/width ratio is 1.1:1 which is kind of square-ish.

1. will i have trouble putting trapezoids on the side (ie will it look funny)

2. while i know that there is no "ideal" for radiant length/width ratios, it looks like 1.2-1.4 may be more "common" or standard .. is that correct and do you think a 1.1 is too square??

thanks, need to figure this out TONIGHT!!!

R: NO

R: NO. Actually, squares are quite fashionable now, and, in other shapes (such as emerald cut and princess) sell for a premium. Square rads are quite uncommon, but all for the better.

What are the other specs?

the other specs are
vs1
f
2.53 carat
8.09x7.28x4.99
depth 68.5%
table 66%
girdle medium to slightly thick
very good polish
good symmetry

any more thoughts?
any guess what the right price would be (plus or minus)

Oh well, I am in Europe and is sooo late. Take a look on that 'fancy cuts' table on the first page of Pricescope, and try to stay away from things below 2B cuts range. If not, at least make sure you do like the stone and get to see it before final purchase (ie have the right to return). After, all there are no really hard rules for these fancy cuts, but why pay for something ove 70% depth, for example ?

Best of luck! Square rad? Any day!

It is a bit deep, but still acceptable. If you like the square look, chances are you will spend quite some time looking for another. let me see...

But what's the rush?

only rush is this diamond is in "demand" from other dealers so mine is pressuring me a bit.

it seems pretty hard to find good radiants ... i'm looking for 2.3-2.5 carat, E, VS1 with good proportions .. and there aren't many out there so i've expanded my search a bit. the diamond that i'm thinking of is an F, VS1 and it sparkled really well so i'm close, but this square-ish issue is still bothering me a bit. thanks for your advice, sounds like you're not worried about it

Price... I should look more for these, but from the top ofmy head: 18-23 K?

WRONG... I am very ENTHUSIASTIC about the look of square rads!

Really,

All the best!

asking 23,500 but i think its rich by $2,000 and won't pay more than $21k or so after thinking about it

Actually: I ma talking formyself here.

I, myself like the squares. But you should have the right not to rush. And, actually, 18-20K is a better upper price range. One can wish a better price for ever.. right...

There are enough e-f VS1 out there (saw Whiteflash?)

Forget the rush... The price is not a catastroph, but, for example, VS2 and SI1 are just as eye clean. Just to make sure you took this into acount...

Hello!
might be too late , but have you seen this one?

http://www.whiteflash.com/radiant/Radiant-cut-diamond-452759.htm
Just need to make sure it is eye clean.
It is cheaper and bigger than the one you were considering

good luck!

Hi. I just recently purchased a I VS 2 square radiant from whiteflash and could not be happier. It is almost perfectly square. It is beautiful and I could not be happier. I have tried it in many settings (some with trapeziods) and it is really unique looking which I think is great. Good luck! Justine
