Hi Everyone,
I am a newbie!! I found this forum by googling and was hooked on looking at everyone''s rings all night last night. I hope you can help me with finding a nice setting for my cushion. I have tiny fingers and the diamond is about 1.2ct. So I want a band with 2mm width. I found one by M&L with tapered shanks that I love. Now the problem is the matching wedding band is so ugly in my opinion that it can''t be worn alone. I want a band that I can wear w or w/o the ER. So I was wondering if any of you know any wedding band that would fit this ER setting. Or if you can offer some suggestions on how to modify this ER setting so I can fit a straight-edged band? Please help!! my ring is coming back to me in 3 weeks and I want to see it in the final setting so I can show off

here''s a pic of the wedding band that I don''t care. Notice the thin canal connecting the two shanks? It just looks so unnatural to me. I need something that I can wear alone.

Select an engagement ring shank which does not pinch smaller at the setting. Then you can use a plain sided wedding ring which won''t have the narrowed segment to wrap around the underside of the diamond in the engagement ring. With a cushion shape, I always rcommend split prongs at each corner to keep the cushio held tightly. This ends up appearing as 8 tips, two in each corner of the diamond. Using just 4 wires allows a cushion to slip past the tight spot too easily.

Would it be too extravagant to suggest purchasing an additional eternity band that could be worn alone (in addition to the matching band that could be worn with your ring)? Most basket set erings aren't too band-friendly. You may want to check out this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/scintillatings-gog-and-leon-mege.39139/ that shows Scintillating's beautiful Leon Mege setting which was made to sit flush with a wedding band by putting the basket on top of the straight shank. Wonder if that might do the trick? Best of luck, congrats and come back with pictures!
