Help me pick out my Christmas present

Since it is ok to post this now, DH said to go and buy myself some earrings for Christmas (he is so clueless). I have gone to several jewelers in my area and I am not impressed by what they offer. I have 2 pair of diamond studs (1 ctw and 2 ctw) that DH gave me ages ago (pre -PS). I am trying to decide between a pair of scattered diamond hoops and a pair of leverback diamond huggies.

I am opting for yellow gold, just because I am that type of gal. I love the scattered hoops when I first saw them, but now I am drooling over the leverback huggies. I plan to wear these everyday and want to order them within a day or 2.

So if you were buying them for me (just a suggestion) which would you choose for me - a 54 year old female, with an 4 year old schnauzer (that means I am outside walking a lot) and an almost 18 year old daughter (which could mean she might want to borrow them from me- though I will try my darndest not to loan them). I want people to notice them, but not too much and I don't want my BIL to get too pissed because he did not get my sister something as nice.
 
I love the lever back ones from BGD. So beautiful. While being totally timeless, they still have a modern edge and a major pop of bling.
 
I would buy myself the BGD lever back huggies. They would definitely be great for everyday wear. I have a pair of leverback earrings and I find them to be very comfortable and secure. I'm not a real fan of the scattered stone design. Congrats on whatever you choose and a Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I like the scattered ones in theory, but I do think the BGD ones will look nicer on the ear.

Since we are about the same age and same situation I vote for the leverbacks. I never really went for the scatter diamond look in earrings. I do really like it in a ring. And I love the yg too! Enjoy!
 
I've got the scattered diamond hoops, and love them, but they are VERY subtle. If you want them to bling at all, get the huggies.

ETA: Here's a real life pic so you can see what I mean. Cute baby is just a bonus (my nephew).

I definitely vote for the leverback huggies! They're perfect.
 
The huggies-they're great for everyday wear and I hear that schnauzers love them.
 
I vote the BGD...they look like nice casual everyday wear...plus I think they would be easier to wear.

OR

Order both...keep the ones you like :appl: !

I'd chose the BGD leverbacks with bigger diamonds. Two point stones are extremely petite.

Looks like the leverback huggies from BGD. I may just order them tonight and will wait for DH to give them to me on Christmas. Thanks everyone for helping me decide.
 
I prefer the look of the leverbacks. I've been wanting a pair like that for a while ... after having a fashion jewelry set like that when I was experimenting w/different styles after getting my ears pierced for the first time.

HOWEVER -- I'm not a fan of "seeing the hole" -- if that makes sense. I love the huggie hoops that *cover* the piercing itself with a diamond. In those types the post is further down, cheated below the top of the diamond --- rather than an arching loop coming out of the ear that diamonds eventually start appearing on the loop.

I've seen that style in higher ct weights -- AND at local jewelry stores (even Sam's Club) ... but HAVEN'T found them online at any of the PS faves. Maybe someone else has & can link to an example. If that matters to you at all after thinking about it. Some folks are fine with the french hooks/holes showing etc.

OH -- one more thing. I do have a scattered type huggie hoop (brushed white gold) and it is *very subtle* -- not much bling at all. I enjoy them because they are comfie and a nice contrast to my other more button-like studs. But they don't cancel out my desire for blingy huggie hoops. If you know what I mean. 8)

Wow, the second ones are gorgeous.

I searched and found that ZestfullyBling has a photo of the huggies on her ear and like the way they look. They will be for everyday.

I just like the costco return policy; next year when you get bored with them, or want something a little nicer, you return them no receipt required.

Soocool, I'm so glad you started this thread! I showed the huggies to my DH (methinks yours and mine are of a similar bent when it comes to picking out gifts...) and we made a deal. I've been saving up for bigger studs, but had been rethinking that (I wear some sort of a hoop most days). I asked how he felt about throwing the Christmas budget at the huggies, and he was on board! So it looks like we're both getting a bit of Christmas bling!

I get sparklies, you get sparklies, the men don't get ulcers, and all is well in the world. :bigsmile:

LOL deco! My friend's a jewelry designer and she makes all of her earrings this way. Those have a "dropped post". It's done exactly for that reason- so you can't see the hole in someone's lobe.
 
Thanks for everyone's input. I ordered the BGD leverbacks last night in yellow gold. Since I wanted something to wear as everyday casual, I think these are perfect. I do have other very blingy (colored stones with diamonds and 2 pr of diamond studs) earrings and it will be nice to be able to wear a bit of casual bling!
