I've been married for 6 years and have not worn a diamond ring before. I was not into diamonds when I got married so I returned my engagement ring and wear a simple band daily. I've been more interested in diamonds (and jewelry) lately and would like to get a ring. After reading this forum for a while, I've becoming increasingly interested in a low color grade, but excellent cut diamond. I saw JA is having their sales on settings right now, and thought it's a good timing to get a ring. Here are the two stones I've been looking at, what do you guys think? I don't know if I will be a daily wearer, I just want something very sparkly and eye clean :) I definitely don't want to pay for any better stats that I can't see

I know they are different sizes, I am just wondering which looks like a better cut? I want a very sparkly stone, .7-1.5ct, K,J,I color, budget is pretty open. Any other stone recommendations would be great too, doesn't necessarily have to be JA either.

Hi mmgoodies and welcome!

It'd be an easy choice for me, the second larger K with the strong blue fluorescence would be the one I'd pick!

Good for you for loving the warmer colours, I take it you've considered this carefully and you don't need near colourless? A K is going to show some warmth, particularly from the side view but with the superior cut it's going to be gorgeous.

Says the wearer of an August Vintage O colour pendant....

When you say your budget is ' open' what are we looking at for the stone and setting please?

I have not decided on a setting yet, but I am currently looking at these for settings:

Total for the ring could be anywhere 4k-10k, the less the better? lol

When you say your budget is ' open' what are we looking at for the stone and setting please?

Would the higher grade side stones make a K center look dirty (somehow?) that's my only concern.

Those are all beautiful, can't go wrong with any of them.

You might notice a difference depending on the colour grade of the sides, best to ask JA to take a look for you. Usual advice is to keep centre and side stones within 2 colour grades to avoid a noticeable difference but JA should be able to advise. Your K wouldn't look ' dirty' but possibly a softer white face up compared to the side stones, you might notice more of a difference from the side view.

those two diamonds have different hues. One is brown, while the other is more on the creamy/yellow side. You just have to decide what you like in terms of tint

I love the idea of a warm diamond in a yellow gold setting personally

Get the 1.13c, if you can afford. It is 1.0c+; enough said. Good price, too.

Thanks all! I really want to set the stone in Platinum, what type of setting would you choose? Halo to cover up the sides more or sidestone type? Thanks!

If it were me, I wouldn't halo it as that might show the warmth of the stone up more - unless that's the look you're going for. I'd pick sidestones personally but bear in mind you still might notice a difference between sides and main stone for warmth. JA can better advise you with the stone in hand.
