Help me pick a first diamond please :)

Hi,

I am in the market for a round diamond. I want it to be eye clean and get the best I can for around $5,000. I'm thinking it will be close to 1 ct (At least that's what my wife is convinced on). I want to buy it online at one of the reputable jewelers to save money.

She is in no way a diamond expert (Neither am I, obviously), but we did some research awhile back but had to put it on the back burner. So now most of that knowledge is lost and have to start over.

Any advice, links, product recommendations, would be most appreciated.

5k is only for the stone right?

Near colorless would be nice. F or G I'm thinking.

I'd say 5k for the stone only.

One question, how can you tell if it is eye clean? Is there a tell tale piece of information somewhere that would indicate this?

you will have to ask the vendor if eye-clean (if buying SI1 or lower clarity). PS vendors will do this with in-house stones

Yap, you have to ask and trust the vendor as there is no other way to tell.
