Is the VC one eye clean? I see a couple of larger black crystals that I would be concerned with. If they say it is, I would ask from what distance it is eye clean (6, 8, 10 inches etc?) and from what angles (top down, pavilion, etc).

Not all VS2s are created equal...especially with black crystals.

The JA one is nice-I personally prefer a lower half closer to 75 for fatter arrows but that's my own opinion. That one looks like it will be eye clean and I love flourescence but just double check that it's not causing any milliners/haziness. Between the two, you're not comparing apples to apples. The VC stone is a super ideal precision cut.

I'll check to see if I see anything else.

The length of the lower girdle halves which in turn impacts the width of the pavilion mains, which are the arrows you see (GIA rounds this to 75 or 80, but AGS is more precise and states the exact number like 77 instead of rounding). Lower halves closer to 75 produce fatter arrows, closer to 80 they are skinnier. This in turn also effects the type of sparkle you see. Larger arrows...larger/bolder flashes of light. Skinnier arrows....more pinpoint flashes. There's no right or wrong, just preference!

What's your exact budget and your desired specs? Are you only considering H/VS2 or are you flexible?

I would go down to I if there is a great deal. How big of a difference is I vs. H anyway (assuming middle of the grade). Ive been told conflicting stories: some say there is no visible difference. Others think H is much "safer" and belongs with FG as "near colorless"

was looking at this WF stone and liked it:

I would say my budget is up to $12k for the stone ($13.5 - 14k all in), but anything beyond that I would need to spend less on the setting.

If I were getting that WF stone I would probably pair it with something like this. Thoughts?

This setting is vastly better than the other one:

G-J are in the near colorless range. Many people here have I color including myself. I would prefer G-H, though, but that was not an option in the particular stone we bought. But I do have H color in my Whiteflash ACA earrings.

The setting I linked is $1875 in platinum which would leave you with about $12k for the stone.

This is actually a good buy. Cut is beautiful. Probably just missed ACA because table is 58.3 which is a miniscule amount larger than their limit for ACAs at 58.

That 1.58 I VS2 is pretty tempting, though. Ask them to pull both stones and compare color. There are high and low within a color grade, and I would only buy a mid to high I color.

Add this one in case it is whiter or more eyeclean than the other I color one:

There are also these. I'd personally give a little on clarity before color. If a stone is eye clean, you're paying for something you can't see. Whereas color and size are the first things you see, so long as the stone is eye clean. Also remember these stones are the size of pencil erasers!

This one is cheaper and a tiny bit larger than the H VS2 DS linked above, but has the eye clean logo:

See if they can get an IS on this: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/search?carat_min=1.4&clarity=SI1,VS2,VS1,VVS2,VVS1,IF,FL&color=D,E,F,G,H,I&heirloom=true&shape=Round&wire_price_max=12300.0#diamond=R150-121067202

Both have quite a bit of leakage from a higher crown angle coupled with a 40.8 pavilion angle. Those would both be better with a 40.6 pavilion, which would result in not as much leakage. You could do better.

The JA stone is a nice one!

Thanks! that is helpful.

For the JA stone, could you tell whether or not it is a "high" I or "low" I. I see a little bit of yellow tint on the side view, but I am not sure if it normal for Is or if this one is closer to a J than H.

No, ask them. It's difficult to judge solely from videos/photos since you don't know what type of lighting is being used which could effect the color we perceive. The only thing I can see is that it has a yellow undertone and not brown (that's a good thing).

Yes, also a nice stone! Very safe numbers but I'd ask for IS/ASET anyway.

Eta: Just to be sure, I'd also ask if the stone has a brown undertone (these are generally not as desire ble as priced accordingly). It's more noticeable in stones I and lower.

Here are the photos for the 1.70ct B2C stone. What do you think? The H&A looks a little bit off to me for some reason

Hello all - most of the online vendors that work with PriceScope can provide the images you are asking about (IS / ASET / H&A) check the individual websites or contact the companies and they will let you know.
