My husband wants to buy me a 3ct diamond to make my dream comes true. :) We have the buget on this diamond, so I lower the 2c and found one seems good. Can you check that for me since I was heard some diamonds will be cracked because of the inperfection. Thanks so much!

Not liking the numbers, pavilion angle is too steep for that crown angle.

Hi Virginia

Regrettably this is not a well cut diamond - what we call a steep deep, both crown and pavilion angles are too steep and deep to work well together, the diamond will very possibly leak light and not sparkle well. I would pass on this diamond, it is also too deep physically as is often the case with the steep deep.

Also it is unusual for there to be durability issues in a GIA graded SI2, although it is best to check with a trusted vendor to be sure, I would keep looking Virginia.

the diameter look small for its weight.

Unfortunately, the GIA has too broad of a range for its "excellent cut." Use the Cut Adviser up top under tools to see what I mean. The crown angle of 36 is high but could be paired with a lower pavilion angle to compensate. Unfortunately, the pavilion angle is also high.

It''s like saying that 200 pounds could make an attractive person, so we''ll include 200 pounds in our "attractive person grade." But 200 pounds looks a lot different on someone who is 6 feet tall versus someone who is 5 feet tall. A 200 pound person who is 5 feet tall may not fit your bill just like you might not be looking for a person who weighs 120 but is 6 feet tall. The angles have to correspond, and these don''t. (I hope I haven''t offended anybody with my weight/height analogy). It''s much safer to go with AGS certified ideal cuts; their range is much stricter and takes how the angles correspond into consideration.

Here''s a 3.01 H SI2 GIA excellent that has much better angles (scores 0.5 on the HCA, all excellents). Your stone''s diameter is 9.28-9.31. This smaller stone has a diameter of 9.41-9.45. Your stone looks smaller than it is because of the steep/deep issue, and it also loses light return because of it. That''s a lose/lose to me.
