The HCA on this one is 2.3 - I know, not great, but I heard from this link that sometimes 2.x ones can have pretty good performance too.

So, how is the light performance, judging by the IS image?

By the way, numbers:

1.23 ct, F, VS2
depth: 62.4
table: 56
crown: 35
pavilion: 41

This diamond *may* show darkness or dullness in the center that is noticeable to the naked eye. Or it may not. It really depends on the viewer's eyesight, and also, to some extent, the size of the stone.

My guess is that this diamond is on the deep side -- 62% plus? And it may have a steep crown angle combined with a steep pavilion angle -- 35.5 crown with 40.9 or 41 pavilion, for example. My guess is that the pavilion % is over 43% as well.

Also, this diamond may face up a bit smaller than other diamonds of similar carat weight that are not cut as deep.

All of this is strictly guesswork on my part, just based on some rudimentary knowledge about diamond proportions and images.

How about giving us the measurements?

Your guesses are right on!

Anyway, numbers are posted now. I'm interested to know, how is the light performance, judging by the IS image?

Looks like the OP just added the measurements, DS.

OP, that stone is quite deep at 62.4, and the crown and pavilion angle combination is bordering on the "steep-deep" category, which is most likely why the stone is showing that dark area in the center. I would pass on this, unless you are willing to order it, view it in person, and return it if the center looks dark and dull, especially in low or ambient lighting.

Re: Help me look at this IdealScope image - how is this ston

I'm not a fan. I wouldn't buy a stone what a dark center like that...There are definitely far better options! What's your budget?

Re: Help me look at this IdealScope image - how is this ston

Can you guys please elaborate more? When you say the centre is too dark, what is it supposed to be? I thought the darker the less leakage, which is a good thing?

The arrows should be dark, everything else should be the same color red. Here's an example not for actual consideration, but just to show you what I'm/we're talking about:

Just click on the idealscope:

This is another option I'm looking at.

How is this one then?

depth: 61.9
table: 56
crown: 35
pavilion: 40.8

This one is $1000 more expensive but a little smaller. Is it worth the price increase and weight decrease to go for a better light performance?

Thanks for these options.

I need F+ and VS2+. Do you think my second option (IS image above) is better?

It's *better*...but that dark ring in the middle still bothers me. do you have to buy from WF? Did you not like the other one's that were posted?

The images tell you only part of the story. The first stone with the darker center *may* look dark and dull in the center or it may not. This stone, just by the numbers, and by the image, looks better than the first diamond. But, again, that's only on paper -- in real life there may be no visual difference between these diamonds. We are talking about two diamonds that are cut very well, much better in cut quality than the majority of the diamonds in jewelry stores across the U.S. Can you ask the vendor to compare these two for you and let us know what they say about how the two compare in person?

this one is gorgeous!

I don't believe the OP is asking for suggestions for different diamonds. He/she wants input on the two stones that he/she posted. OP, correct me if I'm wrong.

Peeps, I don't believe the OP is asking for suggestions for different diamonds. He/she wants input on the two stones that he/she posted. OP, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for all those suggestions. I know there are beautiful diamonds out there but I have to stick with whiteflash for some reasons (tax).

Now I understand better what you guys mean by the "darkness/dullness" now, but I looked at a bunch of whiteflash "A CUT ABOVE" diamonds, they are sold at a big premium, but they all have that inner circle of darkness. I didn't see even one ACA diamond that looks as perfect as this:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/3.227-j-si1-round-diamond-ags-104062032024#!prettyPhoto[gallery2]/1/.

I'm sure I'm missing something here...

I don't think you're missing anything at all. What you're seeing is differences in photography between the two companies, I suspect. ACA and BGD diamonds are both at the top of the scale in cut quality, so don't let differences in Idealscope image photography throw you -- your gf will not be wearing the Idealscope on her finger.
