Help me find this ring, other than Tiffany's

what is your budget/specs? many of the PS vendors make bezel settings

I'd like to stay around $5,000-6,000. For her hand size, and what we've discussed I think a stone around 1 ct would be ideal, she's minimalistic, and want's something very nice, but also low key... Is that budget going to get me a nice stone & setting?

what about the cut, color and clarity on the diamond?

Just wanted to say that I love BGD's bezel setting. Sometimes bezel settings can be clunky but BGD's is elegant and refined while still maintaining the classic bezel look.

There is a BGD bezel ring on JBEG site for $4,100.00 if you're okay with it all being put together already for you. Here is a link to it
If the shank is to think you could ask if it could be made thinner.

I love bezel rings and a RB in a bezel is a yummy combo! Can't wait to see what you decide!

vintagelover I think he wanted princess?

Ooo I like the whiteflash Cameron setting that slg47 posted with the .946 ct diamond!

I saw the princess at the link and then I thought I read RB next to his budget post. Guess I'm seeing things from spending to much time on the computer :errrr: My bad! Sorry!

I would put most of your budget into the diamond, and get the best combination of cut quality, size, color, and clarity you can afford.

With metals prices the way they are, I would spend as little as possible on a Tiffany Bezet look-alike setting. You can always reset the diamond later in a custom ring after gold and platinum go down (and they will, eventually!). Adwar (a setting company that most any online vendor or local jeweler can order settings from) makes this Bezet look-alike: http://www.adwar.com/products/styles/23346L/view and when I priced it out from High Performance Diamonds (online vendor) this year, I believe it was $300- $500 (depending on choice of metal). Ask if Adwar makes a matching wedding band.

Whiteflash, High Performance Diamonds, Brian Gavin Diamonds, and Good Old Gold are some online vendors who carry well-cut princess cut diamonds and provide all the information on the stones right on their website, so it makes it easy to compare.

The ring on from Jewels by Erica Grace is very nice, but it is an M color diamond, which is a beautiful color, but I would not give an M color diamond to someone as an engagement ring unless I knew that person specifically liked lower color diamonds.

Just to toss out, Diamonds by Lauren makes a very similar setting to that one as well. It has the nice "tubular" shank to it. They haven't done it in a colorless diamond that I've seen but I am sure they could. Right now they have a variety of yellow and brown diamonds set in 18K YG and some with a platinum shank. I saw these and love them myself and plan to use the idea for my reset that I am currently doing.

I couldn't give a price but it is worth asking if you love that style of setting best. I personally fell in love with it at Tiffany but not their prices. Plus they don't do custom work anyway so I went back to the source of my diamond. I don't have CADs yet, but I hope to have this look in with mine.

Thanks so far for the great info, I've been quoted $1500 to make the setting that would very similar to the Tiffany's Bezet setting... is that in line price wise for a 14k ring? Keep the info coming, really appreciate it!

maybe? BGD version is $1275 for 18k...

Speaking with a jeweler a friend recommended, this is what i've got so far: 1.46 H/SI-2 stone: $6200, custom setting $1500

Lack of experience @ this, is this a good deal... eh deal, over priced? I know this is almost the exact ring we looked at in the store at Tiffany's and it was $17,800 :errrr:

Are you looking at princess cut stones? Just checking to make sure that that's the shape you're looking for (square). It's hard for us to know if that is a good price without knowing which lab graded the stone (AGS, GIA, EGL, etc.) or if that is the jeweler's grade (no lab report). We have no idea how well the stone is cut or how accurate the color and clarity grades are.

Do you have (or can you get) more information on this diamond?

ETA: Here's an example of a GIA graded H SI1 stone (link is from Whiteflash, but this is a "virtual selection" stone which means it is available to other jewelers). http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2619590.htm

Another example, a little smaller: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2631741.htm

The cut on these is "very good" and with a princess cut, you may want to spend a little more to get an AGS 0 or GIA Excellent cut stone. If you want to buy locally rather than online, that's fine, but make sure you know what the jeweler is showing you and how to evaluate cut, color, and clarity, and grading reports before you buy! You can end up paying way too much for a diamond that does not sparkle, so take your time and do a search on this forum for threads on buying princess cuts to educate yourself on what makes a good princess cut (if you haven't already done so).

ETA 2: And here's a link to a WF ACA (just using WF as an example here; there are other vendors that carry great princess cuts), which is WF's top-of-the-line cut in princess cut stones http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2594768.htm. This stone is a little more expensive and smaller than the one you're looking at, but the cut is great, and the color and clarity are a few grades above the stone you are considering.

you really need image to evaluate a princess cut. also with SI2 I would want to make sure there are no visible inclusions

info on stone

again, we really can't tell by the numbers for fancies. you could see if your local jeweler can get an AGS0 princess, that is a good way to ensure you are getting a quality cut. I would be worried about that inclusion also, you should take it into different lighting and see if it is visible
