Help me find a stone for this setting

I have this black opal by DK for many years. But I don’t really wear it. I realized black opal is not my thing right after I got this ring. I tried to sell it on LT without much luck. Now I’m thinking to repurpose it. The setting itself is pretty and I don’t want to scrape it. So I’m looking to replace the black opal.
I would use a diamond if I can. But the basket and profile is so low (~3mm), my only option seems to be Cabochon. It will need a ~10*8 mm oval. Color wise, I’d prefer Green or red or purple or blue. Please let me know if you have or come across anything within my budget ($1K).
If you have any other suggestions on how to repurpose
this ring, please let me know. I just don’t want it sitting in my jewelry box collecting dusts.

I love this ring and actually emailed you about 2 years ago about it (to the email we used when I bought the 3.6ct OEC from you). That said, if you still want to repurpose the setting the good news would be 10x8 is often seen. I've never repurposed a setting for a cab so idk if you need to consider also the height due to the short prongs? If you are successful in finding a stone I would be interested in purchasing the opal, if you don't have other plans. I hope I'm not breaking any rules on PS asking that.

I’m sorry if I missed out your email inquiry. I posted it many years ago and then forgot about it. The short prongs are actually what I worry about. Definitely I cannot use a high done stone but maybe a low dome one will be ok? I have not checked with my jeweler yet.

Would you consider stones like turquoise or lapis lazuli? They don’t need high dome as they are not transparent

Tanzanite would look great. Maybe outside your budget but they are all over the map, price-wise. At one point, I was going to cannibalize a sapphire from a complex ring and swap in a tanzanite because the mounting was too fine to waste. Never did it. Still think about it from time to time.
