It would seem that this would be easy to find ... maybe I''m looking in the wrong places ...
Based on my indirect investigations, this is what my DW wants as a setting for a 2.75 - 3.00 Emerald Cut diamond (Boy is she specific!!!!):
18K white gold
A simple band with diamonds down either side of the the center stone
Diamonds NOT all around the ring
About 1/3 total carat weight
Pave is OK; Channel is OK; Prong is MAYBE; Bezel is NOT
The amount of metal showing on either side of the row of diamonds to me minimal
Does not like split shanks, tapering, fancy engraving or sloping up to the top of the center stone (cathedral?)
Simple milgrain is OK -- maybe even desirable
Max price: ~$1,000
Of course, it needs to accomodate the above mentioned size.
This one comes close, if you remove all the side side stones and allow a bigger center stone:
http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=6708&page=1&show_all_pages=1&col=2&row=8&pos=23&set_shape=
This one also (but would prefer pave or channel):
http://www.mondera.com/jewelry/product.aspx?partno=3007360&sourceid2=celebros
This is probably the closest (except for the sloping):
http://www.whiteflash.com/golden-wardrobe/gold_details.aspx?itemcode=WF-4099#
Hope this gives you an idea, and thanks for your suggestions.
