Hey, i thought I had a stone picked out but the aset didnt work out as it was not a good overall stone.

Here is what im looking for..

Budget total - 5k total for stone/setting.
Princess Cut - Ideal/Excellent cut
Carat - 1 to 1.1 in size
Color - F-H or possibly I depending on size and not have any yellow tones to it.
Clarity im not too picky as as I think I would go for at least an SI2 if was clean enough. VS2 or better preferred.

I dont know exactly what kind of ring she prefers.. but from looking around I like the look of the braided/pave sets.

Here are a few I have found that I like.. Im sure she would like whatever I've picked out.. i hope :)

I also like some of the cathedral pave settings/channel pave.. as they are kind of the same style. I still prefer the first one from JA.

I also have to stay away from Whiteflash as they will charge me sales tax which is $400-600 more dollars in my state (Texas).
Will stay with 18k white gold for the ring. Platinum kind of puts the stone I want out of reach.

I appreciate any input or recommendations on diamonds/settings would be great help. Thanks all

Those goodoldgold look nice but their prices seem a bit high to me compared to other sites? Really want to keep it at a minimum of 1.0 if possible..

That G colored stone looks good, however it says it has medium blue florescent.. is that bad? I dont know much about it being blue.. I requested the three ASET of them, we'll see how they each come out.

I seem to like JA's website and they are offering 10% off the order till tuesday, so that could work in my favor.. thats $500 off.. :)

Thanks that explains it. Im not to worried about it now, that 1.07 G looks like a great prospect! Only other thing that worries me is the thin/medium girdle but we'll see how the images come out.. thanks for all the help!

well post the ASETs when you get them, you can request for up to 3 diamonds so pick your favorite three. I am not an expert by any means but JA provides images, I just try to look at some and look for attractive faceting pattern/no dark zones. If you look at their pics you will see some of the princess cuts look very different, that's why the photos are so important

Alright here are the two ASET images.. what do yall think? The 2nd one obviously looks better to me but how do you think it is overall?

My favorite based on ASET is the 0.87 F from GOG, but I see you'd prefer a larger stone. Definitely consider the 0.98 H (if you're the one who put it on hold). You'd avoid the >1ct price jump, but it would look exactly like a 1ct stone.

As for the JA stones, I don't think any of them look as nicely cut as either of the two GOG stones, but they all do look reasonably well-cut. Of the two ASETs you got, I think the second is better (more symmetrical, less leakage), but there's still too much green and not enough red for my tastes. It's probably better than 95% of princesses out on the market, but not cream of the crop.

ETA: Found this one, which looks particularly promising from the photo. $4570, so perhaps if you choose a simpler setting, you could swing it. Could be worth asking for your 3rd ASET...

going to agree with Jstar!

Also the Thin - Med girdle is perfectly fine, in fact highly desireable, as you know you are not paying for unnecessary hidden weight.

I agree, it didnt look like it had enough red for what I will be spending on the stone.

Im not sure if JA will let me order any more as I ordered one ASET last week and it had white all over the stone so I passed on that one. I might email and see..

I'll keep looking around.. any other recommendations? I might consider that .87 but would still prefer closer to 1ct.
