Hi, I am looking to upgrade my engagement ring. I currently have a .51 princess cut and im looking to buy a 1 carat or bigger princess cut. I really want an excellent - ideal cut no lower than SI1(as long as eye clean) but with my buget i can only afford J color. I don't want to go lower than that in color. My budget is no more than $3,400.
I've been looking at Enchanted Diamonds and also James Allen. I originally started looking at Blue Nile but their prices are much higher and they don't have the actual diamond pictures.

what do you think about these diamonds:

Im open for sugestions

thank you in advanced!

Yes! i've gone through their website but the reason why im not considering them its because they deduct 20% off what you paid if you want to upgrade your diamond. The rest of the websites give you exactly what you paid for towards the upgrade.

I know i will want to upgrade a few years down the road. My dream size is a 2 carat but cannot afford that right now.

You mentioned in your post that would like an excellent - ideal cut.
AGS is the only grading company that asigns a cut grade to Princess cuts.
If you see a GIA stone you like I would recommend getting an ASET of it if possible.

Here is a link to some general information:
https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/princess-cut-diamond

The number of chevrons plays a huge role in how the diamond appears:
-2 chevrons will appear chunkier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvxtpzmZvD4
-3 will be in the middle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WENqGfM0MVQ
-4 chevrons will be more sintered https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG4vI_eP-XA

thank you for the info! This is why i wanted to post here before i jumped in to buy a diamond. I've never spent so much money on something so small.

Sure thing.

I attached a screenshot of a Pricescope search for AGS Ideal stones.
These are good examples of what AGS considers ideal table/depths.
You'll notice that generally you want the table to be smaller than the depth.

I would also try to stay away from girdles with very/extremes: very thin/thick - extremely thin/thick

This is the stone from whiteflash that I would recommend investigating further:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3031221.htm

It has medium fluorescense which you'd want to make sure it doesn't appear milky.

It's GIA, so it doesn't have a cut grade and you won't know the pavillion/crown angles.
AGS uses these angles to as a factor when determining the cut grade.

I never looked at gridle before, but i did know about the flouresence that it can make a lower grade color face up whiter but can also make it look milky like you said.
