Ok, now I am officially engaged! Yay!

I''ve been looking through the recent dress threads on here. I am more inclined to buy something off the rack. I''ve looked at Macy''s, Nordstroms and as many on-line stores as I can come up with doing random searches. What other stores are there that are like Macy''s and Nordstroms that I''m not thinking of.

I really like this dress:
http://www.dessy.com/dresses/wedding/1012/#attributeMask=128&catid=2&displaytype=GridMedium&activePage=1&rpp=9&SortOrder=StyleNumberDescending

And, I also like these from Nordstroms, but am wondering how ivory is ivory?

I like this one, but would want it to be longer all the way around, and maybe with a little flounce of a sleeve:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2941530?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=gown+in+All+Categories&origin=searchresults

I really, really like this dress, but could only pull it off with the jacket:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2965413?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=gown+in+All+Categories&origin=searchresults

This will be for an as-yet-undetermined destination wedding, probably not on a beach, but in some park-like setting.

Where else can I look?

Thanks!

I have to admit, I don''t love the first one. It feels a little old fashioned and conservative for someone getting married in a national park. I love the second one you posted and wouldn''t mind owning the dress for myself. I don''t really know what you are looking for, but here are a few:
http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=301&langId=-1&storeId=301&productId=501093313&view=20&No=80&N=1604009&searchUrl=%2Fendeca%2FEndecaStartServlet%3Fview%3D20%26No%3D80%26N%3D1604009&R=WEW016
http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod63050231&catId=cat280170
If you could be more specific in what you are looking for I am sure the ladies here will help you find the perfect dress.

Thanks for your honesty! I laughed just a little when I read what you thought about my first dress. I guess I am a little conservative, but you know, earthy too. Thanks for the Dillard''s link. That''s what I need -- all of those big stores that I don''t readily recall the names of b/c they aren''t in my region. BTW, LOVE this dress:

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=301&langId=-1&storeId=301&productId=501221973&N=1604013&searchUrl=%2Fendeca%2FEndecaStartServlet%3FN%3D1604013&R=WDG010

but not loving the open back or the lack of sleeves.

So, I guess what I''m looking for is earthy, lovely, ethereal (but not too much), floaty, white, non-open back with at least some sleeve. Unlike most of the girls on here (size 2, 4, etc.), I''ll be hoping to fit into a 14, so not looking for a very close-fitting dress. Oh, and, I''m 5''8", so I can pull off something requiring a little height.

My other option, would be to get a sleeveless dress with a lace jacket of some sort. But that jacket would remain on. I also wanted one of those lace head shawl-ish things. Not sure what they''re called, but not thinking that would work so well with a lace jacket.

Thoughts? Opinions? Advice? Department store names?

Oh, and, you''re right. It may be a bit too conservative, but it does meet my "coverage" requirements.

Sorry for messing you up! Glad you like the Dessy dresses. I know, they are surprisingly affordable, aren't they? Well, your Nordstrom's post kicked off my search this morning. Hope you find exactly what you're looking for . . . . I'm sure you will. I was talking to a woman at work today, about my e-ring. I told her how it took soooooooooo long to find and she said -- "the good things usually do." So, I guess, enjoy the search. It'll be worth it.

Oh, and, love your e-ring BTW!! I haven't taken any pictures of mine yet, but keep an eye out for my OEC in a very lovely antique setting.

The only other department stores I can think of are Sacks and Neiman Marcus, but neither of them says earthy to me.

As soon as you described what you wanted I thiought of Martin McCrea dresses. You can''t get them in department stores, but they might be what you are looking for.

You''re right on target again. I was looking at those dresses earlier today. My favorite one is the Adora, though I could do without the funky fabric in the center of the dress. And, $800 is a bit high for me. It would be an ok price, except I keep finding these other 200-300 dresses that make 800 seem high in comparison, even though it is very low overall (compared to the average wedding dress price.) I''ll definitely keep Martin McCrea on my list. Maybe instead of earthy, I really mean flowy. I might have been taking the outdoorsy theme a little far there, but I do like the Martin McCrea''s too. It''s going to take me a while to narrow this down . . . .

Maybe Jcrew? I think Nordstrom has a great selection of wedding dresses. I love the 2nd Nordie''s dress you posted, and a bunch on the website for Dessy.

This one is so pretty: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/wedding/1006/

This is like the first Nordie''s dress, but floor length in front: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/wedding/1004/
Those two dessy destination gowns are HORRIBLE in person. Ugly cheap fabric, and they look bad on; I know; I tried them against my will at some snooty salon where the salesgal insisted. Between those and the David''s Bridal fiasco, it took me another 6 months to screw up the courage to go looking again!

If you want lower price, try the Jade and Belsoie lines. Fabric is top quality; and many MOB or BM dresses can be ordered in white or ivory as wedding dresses; more casual for a destination/outdoor setting, but still bridal. You will have to go through a salon or one of the discount online places like House of Brides. Good news is, you can have it ordered in the right length and measurements from a salon.

Here''s an example of the Jade. It comes in a variety of colors, white and ivory too. The chiffon fabric is floaty, has a lovely texture, doesn''t wrinkle; my sister''s MOH dress was from this line and she got compliments out the wazoo! A lot of these have beading, lace, ruched bodices, jackets, layered skirts, etc. Go to www.jasmine.com to look at many other styles including wedding dresses.

The martin mcrea dresses are beautiful, but not worth the $700 and up price tags; not when you can buy a full length bridal dress for the same or less $$. I seriously considered one of them, but couldn''t bring myself to pay the price for a non-returnable (after custom sizing) dress from their site; especially since you cannot see the quality before buying.
