So, for the last couple of weeks or so, Ive been debating on my next big ring purchase. I've been going back and forth over an adrianna style from LM with a one carat center or a .50 Tiffany Legacy. From my research both are going to be around 7k give or take (probably more give than take lol) Obviously the more bang for your buck in carat weight ect would be the LM, but something just wont let me dismiss the legacy either. I think Iam really drawn to the design of the legacy, both are extremely beautiful rings. Just when I think Ive made up my mind, I change back to the other. This is a BIG purchase and I dont want to make a hasty decision.

Thanks!! and happy new year ps'ers!! :appl:
xoxo

Can you post a link or pic of the LM Adrianna? When I searched the name on his site multiple rings came up.

it does kinda help seeing them side by side. both very beautiful!

They are both beautiful rings and you just couldn't make a bad choice with either one of them. However, the Tiffany Legacy is a branded look. You just can't completely copy it and if that's what made you start down this road, I'd get that. It's a look that can be mimicked but it will never truly look just the same. It can also be a mind game too - if the Tiffany experience is what you're craving, then nothing else will compare.

If having the Tiffany look is not the real driver here, then I'd consider having a bigger stone in a Leon setting. You'll probably get more diamond for the buck with this route and if you can appreciate the attention to detail that he puts into his work, this may be the best option for you.

Just a couple of other ways to look at the same situation - I wish you luck in whatever you decide. As I said, you really can't pick a dog out of the two - ha!

Happy New Year to you as well!!

I went through your older topics hoping to find a picture of your engagement ring and wedding set, but I didn't find one. What do your existing rings look like. I saw that you have a pave halo with a split shank and a .75 diamond for a RHR already so... both rings you are trying to decide between seem to be in that vein.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd hold onto my money and try to find a used Legacy ring and pocket the change for a future purchase.

I'm not really sure how you came up with the 7K number on the Leon with a 1 ct stone, unless it is one of his stocked items on micropave.com, but any way I add it... the Adrianna is 4K-5K for the setting alone, so I'm wondering what type/quality of center stone you are going to buy for 2K a carat.

Here is the information that I have:

My quote form LM-Nov 18
Adrianna halo
finger size 7
estimate total cost of ring: $7,034 excludes some $ for melee
center stone: 1.03 J/S12 $ 2,874

- when I checked the diamond concierge yesterday I found a
cushion 1.0 I/VS2 $2215

Tco
called a few days ago
.46 H/VS1 $7300
.31 " " $5300
.38 " " $5900

my mom always says, you never make a mistake by waiting. Ive never owned anything from Tco ( jewelry) The only nice piece I have is my wedding set ( which I traded in the split shank to upgrade the diamond. I didnt end up liking it)

J/SI2 1.51 no cert came from a 'big chain'

My wedding band is the same design as the shank. Just never got around to posting :/

Well, first off I love your engagment ring, it looks lovely.

I think it's what you really desire- the "look" and size.... or the actually ring which like other posted will never be replicated completely.

I am concerned though that with a .46 in a tiffany legacy will you feel it is too small- you had a 1.5 RB stone and cushions face up smaller than RB and going with a .46 in a halo may be the same size or smaller than what you have. will that disappoint you?

OR- does having that one piece (tiffany legacy) mean more to you than the size??

It's a tough call, me personally I would go with the LM and get the 1 ct I/VS2 in the adrianna and I would be honored to have that, but if you heart is set on a legacy- by all means get the legacy.

Amy, you hit the nail on the head! Do you think the .46 even inside the halo would be smaller than what I have? I have an appt on Monday to go see in person. I wasn't necessarily going for A lot of finger coverage but you do make an excellent point. I do wear a size seven, so it's something to think about.

Thank you for your insight everyone!
:)

I agree with Gypsy- find a used Legacy... or go with the Leon.
Have you tried on a Legacy in that size? If not, it may make for an easy decision for you... you'll probably either love it or be underwhelmed. I tried a 0.5 ct Legacy and a stone that size can't really be deciphered from an Asscher until you look at it up close. That and the Legacy rings less than 1 ct are set differently- they don't have the diamonds on the underside of the center stone, which I feel takes away from the whole look... but I'm also REALLY picky.
Keep us posted on what you decide!

Thanks Piggies! I love your ring so beautiful!! Thanks for the insight! I had no idea that they were not set the same-

any chance you could tell me how many mm across the top of your ring?

Im looking forward to seeing in person, at my appt on mon! Im sure that will help!

Thanks Sunny! Not sure if you were asking for the mm of my stone or across the whole setting? Well either way, I'm useless because I am on holiday for a while with no ruler or cert with me. There is, however this listing on ebay with a cert so you can see the size of this 0.95ct legacy. Also- it has the setting without the diamonds on the underside of the center stone so you can see what I was talking about before.
And Amys Bling has a good point with size too... but on the other side of the argument, if you go with a haloed 1ct stone, you may start to feel that your 1.5ct engagement ring doesn't have enough finger coverage. At the time of ring shopping I tried on a 1ct Legacy followed by a 1.33ct round solitaire in the knife edge setting and my fiance (not knowing the stone weight) thought the solitaire stone was a lot smaller.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts after your appointment... very curious to see which way you'll go...

Thanks! I did see that one on ebay- You guys think that is a good deal? It just worries me about being genuine. It dosent bother me that some else wore it, even though my hubs thought it might. My current diamond in my setting was through trade in, so there is a good chance someone loved it before me too.

here is a better example of my wedding rings- I think the pave on the side resimbles the halo around the legacy. Maybe that is why Iam drawn.

I guess I am the only vote here for the LM.

No, it's a hard choice but I do think that ebay Legacy would compliment your set very nicely. I've seen that seller a lot on ebay but you could probably also stipulate that you want a chance to have it verified by Tiffany if you decide to go that route.

It is a beautiful ring but the LM would be gorgeous as well!

I actually provided the link as an example of the setting without the diamonds on the underside... It looks legit to me in my unprofessional opinion, but I wouldn't buy anything that expensive without a return policy. You really need to see it in person because the cut quality varies a lot and you don't want to pay big bucks for a dud. And I also wouldn't purchase a cast repro... wasn't impressed with the quality of the cast ones I've seen in person. But again, I'm really picky. There's just some details that look better to me in a handmade setting.

Here's another Legacy inspired setting that I think is just beautiful!!!

http://www.vimeo.com/18133734

I would check with GOG (goodoldgold.com) for the price of this setting but I bet you can get a nice size stone and setting from them (or Excel Diamond) for less then the Tiffany one and it would be just as nice. :))

The Leon is also stunning and it comes down to what look your going for. The Legacy IMO is a "heavier look" (more metal, thicker band) and the Leon is more delicate.

Good luck with your decision. :wavey:

Cachette :))

That is a gorgeous alternative - wow!

That is an excellent way to describe the two different rings - well said!!

Thanks Cachette! :wavey:

You also make a great point that keeps me going back and forth. The legacy is a heavier ring. This is one reason why I love it. On the other hand, the delicate nature of the LM is why I love it. I wouldn't say Iam' hard' on my rings, but they definitely get worn. I take off my engagement part of my ring when I think I might do something to mess it up ( Right now Iam finishing my BFA in Art Edu. so Iam working with paints, conte crayons and charcoal ect. A lot of little icky things to get a bad build up of yuck. My job is also VERY hands on. Iam sure none of the girls I work with could even tell you I had a diamond, as I mostly just wear the band, in fear I might dislodge my stone. I definitely want a ring Iam not afraid to wear. Since this is the largest jewelry purchase, I want to be able to wear it all the time, unless Im doing something hands on that I would feel safer taking it off.

Sunny :)

That is the BEST inspiration peice Ive seen! Thanks for sharing!!!

I am not sure if the .46 with the legacy halo would be bigger or smaller than your 1.5RB- but it is something to think about- Also- remember that many halo owners say- halos make your ring bigger not the main stone- so what is the overall look and size you want? a bigger ring or bigger diamond?

So . . . .

I just got back home from my visit to Tco. Actually, its the first time Ive been in one and it was a very nice experience.

While they were searching about the one I had originally called for, I was handed a .82 and a .31
It is so beautiful in person, full of sparkle and very drawn to the overall design. Immediately, I knew that the .31 was way to small for me. It did look really tiny on my finger. Of course most of these rings are sized at what a 5.5 or 6 ? so its reminded me of wedding dress shopping along time ago, where it doesn't quite fit, so you have to make the best of it.
when I put the .82 I could tell that this was a really nice size for my finger. it was big enough to see, but not over powering my 1.5RB. I fell in love but then saw its price tag. :/ 13,500 to take it home  . Although, it was an E in color and I think a VS1 at least in clarity. Then they found the .54 H/VS1 and after trying on the .82, I wasnt really digging its size. They found me a .70 that they were going to transfer in for me in so I can see that first hand. I put both the .82 and .54 on my finger and I think the in between will be nice. The .70 was going to be 9800. Adding that much on top of what we were going to spend is something to think about but it was beautiful and I thought it complemented what I already had.

So, I guess we will see what happens. The .70 should be here tues or wed. It will be interesting to see how I feel about that one.

The visit to Tco definitely helped. ;)
