I''m fairly new but i''ll try my best to address your question.

1. safe online store? bluenile or whiteflash? any more suggestion

I think all of the stores listed on Pricescope are safe bets. Bluenile and WF are both good choices. Other options include

http://www.goodoldgold.com
http://www.jamesallen.com/
http://www.highperformancediamonds.com

Since you''re from Asia, I would probably go for whichever retailer has the best value stone in stock since upgrade policies etc... probably don''t matter as much to you.

2. my budget is limited 1,200USD - whats the best dimond i can get with this budget?

The rest of the post will try to address this. I will say here that cut appears to be the most popular factor to focus on based on the comments I''ve read on this board.

I am also going to also assume your budget is $2,100 USD since the two stones you listed were around that price range.

3. my own idea(newbie) 4C''s. is this a good dimond?

-princess cut, because its cheaper than round.

A princess cut will be cheaper per carat than a round. However, it may have a smaller surface area than an equally priced round. For example:

Blue Nile has this .70 ct G VS2 Ideal Cut Round for $2,037 which is approximately the same price as the Princess

This stone has a diameter of 5.47 which gives it an effective surface area of ~25.4

Note that this is larger than the surface area of the Princess which is ~ 24.5

Furthermore, from what I''ve read on this forum, selecting a fancy cut without actually seeing the stone is much more difficult than selecting a round.

I would go for an ideal cut round and use HCA or Idealscope images to filter your selections

-size .75 i guess to fit my budget. the bigger the better.

I think .75 should be easily doable if your budget is $2,100. How large of a stone you''ll end up with will depend on what other factors you''re willing to compromise on.

-color G or should i change my color to H?

I think this is a personal thing. Some people may not be able to tell the difference between a G and an H. Others can see the difference between an F and a G.

-clarity VS im not sure what vs to choose.

If you''re simply looking for a stone which is eye clean, I think VS2 or SI1 should suffice (based on what I''ve read)

As for the two princess cuts, I think the board would request ASET/Idealscope images before making a judgement on them.

sorry for the typo error. my budget is not more than 2,200 USD

what is ASET/Idealscope images?

how about the depth, table and measurement? are these really that impotant?
bigger table and measurement makes the diamond looks bigger? right?

thanks for ur reply!

Hi Staci,

I''m going to address your questions in reverse order.

Ideal Proportions: From this link
table 54-57%
depth 60-62%
crown angle 34-35
pavilion angle 40.6 to 41
Table and Depth

1) A larger table may make the diamond look bigger but may also result in more white light being reflected and girlde reflections.
Link to: Table... How large is too large?

2) A larger Depth % may do two things

a) Lead to increased light leakage
b) Result in a smaller looking diamond (since more weight is distributed to the lower half which can''t be seen)

ASET and Idealscope Images - Examples follow:

ASET:

Idealscope (Bottom half of this image):

In short, for ASET images, you want to see mostly red (light) and blue (contrast). Black areas = light leakage which is bad.
For Idealscope images, you are looking for a deeply saturated red image. White areas = light leakage which is bad.

For princess, usually we prefer table to be slightly smaller in than depth, in the mid to upper 60%, and depth in the lower 70%. If possible, get the crown depth, 10-15%.

As there are lots of ways to cut princess, best to see an ASET image.

    1. safe online store? bluenile or whiteflash? any more suggestion I would suggest working with vendors who have in house diamonds and can supply all the info needed, ASET images, photos, Sarin reports etc. You can't judge a Princess by the numbers so images are essential, unfortunately BN do not provide images so no way of properly judging these shapes.

4.which is better? or can u pls help me choose one for me . thanks. You could consider verified eyeclean SI clarities and H colour is certainly an option. As long as the cut is great and the diamond eyeclean, you will have a pretty stone.
    just pls post the links.

www.niceice.com also sell well cut Princess to add to the vendors above.

There are various proportion configurations which can produce a well cut Princess, generally it is preferable to have the table percent less than the depth and you don't want the table too large as from this you can get increased glare and a shallow crown height which can adversely affect fire.

This is an excellent link for ASET and Idealscope images.

i really appreciate all ur replies
but i think, it kinda makes it alil bit more complicated for me

now... i''m asking for help
for my budget not more than 2,200 USD, where and what diamond can i get?
i just don''t wanna go lower than .75carat
i really prefer a brilliant color as much as possible G-H i think.
i would really appreciate all ur suggestion and recommendation
thanks everyone.

So you still want to stick with a princess cut?

thanks stone-cold11 ill consider this one.
pls keep it coming.

is my 2 choices (bluenile and whiteflash) is not a good diamond ?

or should i continue hunting for a better choice?

how i really wish its not that complicated to buy this item with that kind of price :P

Can''t really tell with your 2 choices because BN do not offer any other images and the WF stone you listed is not in-house, so they do not own it and will need to call it in for all the images and that will be additional cost for you if you do not buy the stone in the end.
