So we've decided to buy through Blue Nile (I know, not the most popular around here, but we don't want the hassle of importing, taxes, returns etc, so it has to be somewhere that has a UK division and we haven't found a B&M store who offers the same value for money)
I've narrowed my choice down to a few diamonds which will be going in the 2.5mm classic comfort fit setting in platinum, but I have no idea which is the best one. They are all similar, but the size ranges from 5mm to 5.4mm - I've seen a 5.05mm GIA stone in an F colour already and really liked it. It was pretty much perfect but slightly larger would be nicer, I just cant work out if it's worth the price jump if it's not that noticeable. They are all SI2's as so far my untrained eyes haven't been able to notice inclusions at all even when they are pointed out to me, I just get blinded by sparkle! At this size I figured it wouldn't really matter.
Our budget all together is £1700 including the setting so the prices I've put below are the diamond on its own before VAT and then with the setting including VAT & delivery.

The bargain hunter in me says go for the smaller cheapest one as it just misses on on being an Ideal cut but this makes it cheaper. The .57 only entered into the mix because of it's size (strangely it was the only diamond at this size that came up in my search once I had the table and depth set up where I wanted it, everything else was .45-.52 ish), and the rational side of me says go for the middle ground.
So, for a modest budget is one more favourable than the others? I do have 3 other I'm looking at but these are my top three unless there is something really wrong with one of them.
