The waxes are in - ERD is quick! I was surprised at how tiny the rings are - after seeing huge bulky CADs I was delighted to see two beautiful, delicate wax models sitting in a box. To say the differences are miniscule is a total understatement. It comes down to the shank shape - one is more "fluted", and the other is more egg-shaped. Which one do you like better? The navette-shaped cutouts are visible from the top down view for both, so that isn't an issue. In the fluted shape, the top down view is more tapered whereas the egg one is more thick. The egg-shaped one is truer to the original inspiration from SS. Remember that I will be doing engraving on the side view - so I'm thinking the egg shape will showcase it better. However, the fluted does have more of a taper.
Also - are waxes supposed to be tight? They do file it down right? It is a struggle to put it on, and when it's on it does look tight on my finger. Maybe i should size up to a 4.5? I'll ask ERD their opinion too.
Fluted shape on left, egg-shaped on right.
Fluted on bottom, egg on top. This is a bad photo as neither looks this bulky in real life.
