Hi,

I''m wanting to buy a ring for my girlfriend from Tiffany''s.

I just wanted to know, can I ask them to go down on the price, like buying a car?

Thank you.

You *may* be able to talk them down if you are buying something over 3 carats. And *maybe* if you buy under 3 carats. Truth is, people will buy Tiffany''s rings at the price that they are listed without batting an eye. Tiffany''s wouldn''t price them so high if the couldn''t.

I priced some Tiffany''s rings and for an H VS2(their lowest clarity grade) 1.17ct solitaire with plain old platinum band was $13,500! That is just over one carat. You can get an H VS2 1 ct AGS000 for half that other places! Ask your girlfriend what she would choose. For $13,500 you can get more than 1.6 carats at other places. Ask her if she would rather the robins blue box or an equally pretty diamond that is 60% larger with a black tuxedo box?

My guess! I''d choose the latter! Yes, Tiffany''s have beautiful diamonds. They also have great lighting! However, you can find an equally pretty larger diamond for the same price! Sooooooo...it is up to you. Tiffany Stamp or Size!

P.S. If you choose Tiffany''s GREAT! I think however, that people on this forum would rather see someone get what they pay for.

I shopped at Tiff, they would not deal. Glad I did not buy from them, got a bigger, and better ring for less money.

You can''t bargain at Tiffany. If you have to dicker, then you can''t afford their prices.
