Guys, I'm really having a day here. Okay so we got hit with the blizzard and then another storm last night and the walkway was icy this morning so since the mailman would be coming I thought I need to throw something on it. Well the ice melt was in the shed which I couldn't get to right away so I threw some cat litter on it. All down the walkway, down the driveway all good right? Except that I realized after the fact that I used CLUMPING cat litter :!:

So now I have basically cat litter cement all over everything including the bottom of my shoes. We threw some snow over it (which is really ironic right?) but when that melts won't I just be stuck with the same problem again? I just have a huge mess on my hands and I'm stressing out. In addition it's cold here so if I try to wash the walkway I'm just going to end up with an icy cat litter skating rink. I tried shoveling it off to no avail.

Any suggestions for how to deal with this? Please, I need something to negate this mess.

Do you live in New England? Sounds like our weather.

No do not wash it away or you will have a skating rink

Wait until the weather gets a little warmer later in the week.

It will be much easier to deal with.

Thanks Ruby, we are in CT, the temps aren't supposed to get too much warmer but our weather is so unpredictable you never know day to day.

Can you just put ice melt on top of it? If you're out of that already do you have any regular sand? That'll help til you can clean it all up.

No sand, you would think we just moved here based on how ill prepared we are for snow right?

The only thing I have is calcium chloride which we use to melt
Ice on the roof when we get ice dams. I don't know if we can use it on cement but I'll check.

Oh and just to my day, I dropped my sons's Lego train shattering it into a million pieces as I was giving it back to him (after a punishment). And I threw out my husband's dinner not realizing he hadn't eaten!! Batting 1,000 here lol.
