HELP! I can''t decide - Rhodochrosite Earrings

I recently purchased a pair of 14k gold Rhodochrosite earrings and when I received them in the mail they were more orangey than I expected. When I asked the jeweler about this he explained that because Rhodochrosite is translucent the gold seen through the stone causes it to look orange. Is this true?

He offered to make me a pair of white gold earrings and let me decide which to keep. I received the white gold pair in the mail today and now I can''t decide! What do you guys think?

i like the jello cube look but i also think the white metal tones down the orange tone which you seem to not like. one looks ''warm'' and the other looks ''cool''. interesting earrings!

Thanks so much for your votes! You guys are right, I didn''t even realize that the yellow gold pair look like jello cubes! When I look at them that way, they are pretty cool. I''ve been taking turns wearing both pairs and I think I''m leaning towards the yellow gold. They look more gummy (and yummy) in the mirror.
