Help! I can't decide if I want a high or low setting!

Hey all! I'm a newbie! My husband and I shopped for my upgrade ring. We were offered a solasfera, Leo and tolkowsky (we have no clue about diamond brands, we got a solasfera) so, I looked up Solasfera and found this forum. Anyway, the first setting was too high for me (I think) so I changed the ring and asked for a very low setting. After I got the ring, I did not like the very low setting. Can I tell them to make a medium set? Is there such thing? Below are the pics:

I love your second one!

Love your low set halo. So classy. I wouldn't change a thing.

Yours is great. The girdle should sit a hair above the melee.

Second.

It was way too high before but looks great now!

The low set version is perfect! I wouldn't change it again.

I agree with everyone-the low set ring is beautiful and much more elegant than the higher set ring. But if you prefer it a tad higher you should reset to your preferred height-you are the one who needs to find the ring aesthetically pleasing.

Beautiful ring...enjoy in health and happiness and congratulations. :appl:

It is set perfectly now. If you look through all the threads here with high end halo settings such as Victor Canera and Steven Kirsch, that is the way they are all set. So to me, that one is set correctly. In a plain solitaire setting with no halo, I think medium height is best. However, in a halo, the center stone should be set very close to the halo, and sometimes people set them even closer to the halo in a bezel. The way it is set now protects the stone from getting chips, too. I wouldn't change a thing!

Here are some Victor Canera rings:

Your ring is absolutely gorgeous!   Solasferas are very fine diamonds!!!

Prefer the lower setting. Much easier to the eye and will definitely now cause problems with catching in thugs like clothing etc.

Thank you all for the replies! I'm so glad you liked my 2nd setting :twirl: I'm starting to like it. . I love it's vintage look too.

Diamondseeker2006, wow! I've never heard of victor camera and his work are like masterpieces! Beautiful rings! Thanks for showing me the link!

Now, I'm still 50/50 and my jeweler have already ordered the 2nd same ring for me, maybe I'll try and see if I like it that way? Just a little bit higher. But like I said, this low setting is growing on me now. Oh decisions, decisions. goodness, I must drive them crazy!

I vote lower! I had a higher setting before and it's awful. I hit it on everything, it felt weird when I was at work typing and it just looked unnatural (to me) your setting now is beautiful, I say keep it!

From a design stand point the lower set ring is harder to achieve. I'm surprised the Neil Lane was set so high, just the design I guess.

Trust me, we can relate! You sound like you belong here! We are all kind of OCD about our jewelry!

I absolutely love the second setting! Gorgeous. Perhaps you are feeling unsure as it is a big change from the super high one you used to have? I hope you start to love it

I have never been a fan of high settings, so definitely the second lower setting for me personally.

DK :))

I think that's what it is! The girdle on the left side is a little too low. I can see the inside of the metal or melee, is that what you call it? The diamond has a thin to med fac.

I like the 2nd one too.
