Hello all,

I've been lurking here for a few months, trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a custom ring from Whiteflash but need to select the right stone first. With the help of the Whiteflash staff, I have found and reserved this stone:

I've come to you all of you experts for input if you think this looks like a good one. In my less than expert opinion, it seems to check all of the right boxes while staying in my budget. For some background, my requirements were approx. .8-.9 ct (trying to approach 1ct without the cost), eye clean, H-I in color, and excellent cut. My priority was to find the best cut to really let it shine, with clarity, carat, and color behind in that order. I think that this is a good compromise to stay at my ~$3500 budget, and hopefully you will agree! The stone will be going into a yellow gold twisted shank setting very similar to this Victor Canera ring:

I appreciate any help and advice you can give!

Looks like the Idealscope shows some small light leakage under the table but I dunno. It seems to have great symmetry though. If you decide you don't want it let me know as I like it quite a bit.

I think it checks all the boxes between cut and budget!
With a very quick check around James Allen and Good Old Gold I like your choice the best.

Good thing you have it on hold.

Very nice choice! Expert Selection stones are ideal cut, and they are a good value!

Thanks for the responses! It's certainly encouraging to hear the positive comments. The only real concern I had was with the leakage on the Ideal Scope image - I can't say I'm too well versed with reading them, but is that amount of leakage acceptable? Will it noticeably affect the stone's performance?

IMO it's very acceptable. Maybe to the very well trained eye it might be noticeable but I doubt it will have any real impact under normal viewing circumstances. If you're concerned you could have them ship it to you so you can view it in person. You could always return it for something else.
