I'm currently on the search for an oval diamond to include in an engagement ring. The ring itself will be 18k yellow gold with a platinum setting (prongs/basket if I'm not using the correct terminology)

Budget is up to $16,000 but would prefer to keep it closer to $12-13,000
Probably looking at colorless
Would prefer VS or above but will consider SI if I have some help.

I've found the below diamonds and cannot determine which I should go for.

1. - 1.55
2. - 1.80 - based on limited knowledge I like this
3. - 1.52 - and this
4. - 1.70
5. - 1.80

I would consider this but it's a little outside the budget

I'd really appreciate any help you can provide

Thank you

If you are looking at Ovals, you really must consider the new Opulence Ovals from August Vintage Inc:

https://www.augustvintageinc.net/shop

They are a development by @Rhino on here and are being cut for the best light return/performance possible, and going from the videos, are night-and-day better than many (most?!) ovals out there, with no issues relating to the usual bowtie effect.

I'd love to consider that but currently there are 3 choices in the size range I'm looking for (only 1 on hand) and only one of those has the color I'd want.

You can send an enquiry directly to @Rhino from the website - he will be able to advise if any new stones are expected soon, or if he could get one custom cut to match your budget :)

I think you have some feedback on the other thread. But, I wanted to post a few more that have potential.

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/2.01-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-4239346 (classic capsule/oval shape}

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.91-carat-g-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-3361908 {cushiony oval. I like this for the faceting and that all the facets are moving all the time; beautiful color and clarity. Need an ASET}

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/2.20-carat-h-color-si2-clarity-sku-875264 {huge spread in budget, but has a long dark inclusion. Suspect this won't suit, but wanted to post for size. Faceting is quite nice. Need an ASET.}

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/2.01-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-sku-3635610 {Good light movement. Nice faceting. Twinning whips need to be examined, but if they don't impact light return, could be a good bet for budget.}

I would highly recommend Rhino's opulence oval. Stunning.
