Hope that you are well. I'm a complete newbie in the process of buying an engagement ring. Fortunately, I have spent a bunch of time on this site (and have been amazed by the quality of the posts, comments and advice). My budget is ~$7000 (but I'm pretty flexible on either end) for the stone and I'm looking to get the best combination of size, quality and value. Based on my research, I've targeted stones that are in the 1.2-1.3kt range, with Sig Ideal/Ideal cut, H color, and SI1 clarity (eye clean).

I would love to get your expert opinions on the stone described below. Any advice would be much appreciated. In particular, I'd like to hear whether you think it is a good value for the money and whether you see any problem with the clarity after looking at the GIA report (see attached).

Price: $7000
1.26 kt Round Brilliant
Signature Ideal Cut, H color, SI-1 clarity

I've looked at the stone and it appears to be an eye clean SI-1 (verified by the vendor as well). The main concern I have is that there are 3 rather large "cloud" shapes on the GIA report (see attached report). Quest Jewelers appears to be a respected vendor and I have nothing but great things to say about the treatment I've gotten so far (they have been fantastic!), but I figured it would be worth getting your advice before pulling the trigger.

As a complete newbie about to make a big purchase, I'd really welcome any advice you might have on this. Also, if you think there are better alternatives, I'd be happy to hear about any specific stones you might come across on the Quest website. Is it worth it to go down in size a little to get better color or clarity?

Thanks in advance- I really appreciate it!

Looks promising from the numbers.

Thanks for the reply!

Would you be concerned about the clouds? Are there any questions you would ask or things you would want to look at in particular before moving forward with it? I'm meeting with the jeweler again on Monday for one last look, so any thoughts are welcome!

Thanks!

SI1 with that large an area would be very disperse, unlikely to be visible.

I would check it out in different lighting but my diamond has a large cloud on the inclusion report and I can't see anything without a loupe. Even with a loupe I have to look pretty closely to see the cloud, it looks like a bunch of little brown dots (tiny though, more like pinpoints, not huge black carbon spots).
