Help choose between 2 Emerald Cuts (ASETs + Pics inside)

Hi all,

Have really valued all the advice I've received on this board so far, so would welcome any input on two stones I'm currently considering. They are both Emerald Cut, either 1.51 or 1.55 carat (E, VS1 and F, VVS2 respectively). The 1.51 is slightly bigger from length x width perspective. The 1.55 stone is ~$1000 more expensive.

Out of curiosity, why would you pay $1k more for a diamond that looks smaller, has worse color, and worse clarity?

It has slightly higher clarity actually, but yes, I am leaning towards the first stone I must admit. It's in situations like thi s I feel like I must be missing something obvious, hence why I though I'd enlist the expert assistance of this forum

Whoops - thought it said VS2.

Still though, I like the 1.51 - but I'm not an expert. Just a consumer interested in diamonds!

The 1.55 looks like it has issues with the p3 angles according to the aset:

Do you have the table size and crown height on the 1.51, any more pictures?

I'd pass on both. Neither are exciting performers.

I think I prefer the deeper cut corners of the first.

Karl: no more pictures, but am having a friend look at them on my behalf on Friday (both stones are overseas). For the 1.51, table size is 67%, depth is 65.1%. Dimensions 8.23x5.68x3.70

Gypsy: can I ask whether it's the ASET or regular photos (or both) that don't inspire you? I'm still new to this, so am trying to pick up any points I can from the experts here about what makes a stone stand out (or, in this case, not stand out).

P.S. I took your advice in a previous post and spoke to Mark at ERD - these are the first two stones he's brought in for me to consider.
