Hi all - First, I'd like to thank this forum in general for all the knowledge it has. I've learned a great deal in a short amount of time.

Based on the reviews, I've narrowed it down to Brian Gavin and Whiteflash and to one diamond at each site. I wanted to get the thoughts of the experts here on which diamond would be better, based on 1) value for the diamond, 2) the ASET/Idealscope, and 3) anything else I should strongly consider.

Also, I confirmed with BG that the diamond is eye-clean.

Thank you in advance for your insight.

The spread difference is negligible, so if they are both eye clean to your standards I'd go with the one $2500 cheaper (the BG I si2). Funny story about that stone actually, and hope you don't hate me for this, but a while ago I noticed that stone was priced lower than another BG signature 1.75 I si2, eye clean. I was confused so I asked them, thinking that the 1.75 was mispriced/overpriced, and they thanked me for finding out the mispricing, and actually increased the price of the 1.922 by $1000. It was around $16,400 full price before. If I had the budget and was in the market for a 2 ct. stone, I definitely would have bought it then, since after PS discount it would have been an eyeclean I color 2 ct stone (the shallower depth makes it face up as large as a 2ct) for close to 15k, and you can't get much better than that :) It's still a good value even now though.

Thanks for the response! I didn't realize BG also has a PS discount, is this something I just need to ask BG about?

I only hate you a little for bringing it up... :wink2: But at that price, I guess it probably wouldn't have been around that long!

Also, good point about the shallowness making the diamond look "bigger", I hadn't considered that.

I don't think BG has a PS discount but I could be wrong. But they are having a Mother's Day sale, so you can ask about any discounts and mention PS. See what happens.

I agree with getting the BGD stone as long as it is eyeclean.

Yes, they have a PS discount - just mention it to the sales representative. It's 5% off the full price if paying by bank wire (3% for credit).
