Hi all, firstly I love this site. So much good information I hope someone can help me too.

I need advice on a ring I am looking at with my partner. It is an emerald cut with 2 baguets each side
Center stone is .50 ct colour H and vs1
Accents are approx .32 colour f/g vs2
depth 69.5%
table 63%
excellent polish
very good symmetry
Thick to very thick polished girdle
no flouresence
5.25 x 3.78 x 2.63
It has a GIA appraisal and took all info from the stores info appraisal which is a well know legit store.
It set in 14kt white gold.

This ring is new but the proposal was turned down (thats the story) it is now for resale online. I think I trust the seller. He has had it listed at $1500 and since past month dropped price bit by bit to $ 750.
Our budget is so tight ( thankfully I dont want a hugh ring or anything very flashy) but I still want the best simple and elegant ring I gan get.
Is this a good diamond?

Thanks you for your advice in advance

Emerald cuts show more color than other cuts. I'd make sure that you are happy with an H color. Does the seller have a return policy? Or inspection period?

Btw, GIA does not do appraisals. GIA offers certificates that can be verified by independent appraisers.

Is H not such a good color? Will it look odd with white gold? And yes sorry appraisal is from a jeweler and it has a GIA cert.
Thanks

H should be fine in an EC if you are not color sensitive. Be sure to look at it in all lights. If it looks white enough to you then
it should be fine. Also helps to have a good return policy.

The ring is in the U.S and I am in Japan. Boyfriend in Europe :(( So sadly I cant see it. It is a private seller who has since reduced price again to $500  Is there any other aspect of the ring I should question?
Thanks again

Do you have any pictures you can post?

It's rather deep, the table is fine though. It will be on the shorter fatter side but not too bad.

Is it eye-clean?

Interestingly it is graded VS1 it should be... Why does nobody offer me an unused ring with GIA cert for 500? :angryfire:

Well to me it sounds As if the seller has either big financial trouble or something is wrong?

Thats my thoughts. I have asked for a few more pictures but it looks good. I think it could be worth the gamble. :?: The it is valued at over 3000 for insurance purposes and it did start life at $ 1500. He says a bad brake-up? Could it be true???? :?: :?: :loopy:
I know nothing about diamonds but surly an vs1 or 2 would be eye clean? Aalso would the colour but very apparent on a .50?

I think the color will be fine at that size. As to whether it's okay - well, the ring is overseas. Can you afford to lose $500? The break-up story might very well be true. It'd be very difficult for you to recover the money if something went wrong with the transaction though.

I'm curious - can we see the pictures?

Yes as soon as I get them I will post them,
Thanks guys and what a great site! :appl:

ok this is the best picture at the moment. What do you guys think?

this is a ring!

I can't even say from the picture wether there is a stone in the middle of the setting or not.

If there is, well it's a classic and if!! the certified GIA stone really sits in the middle of that ring it probably looks nice

I know awful picture it does look better in mine but when i save them to my file it looks awful so tiny. but I am 100% sure it is there :geek:
