Hi all :wavey:

I was hoping for a little advice (please). I've been a long time lurker and reader of the forum, but its approached the time where I'm going to be making the move into buying a ring for my hopefully future fiancée. I've found a ring that I think she'd love and here are the stats:
--------------------------------------
Shape: Square Cushion
Cut: Brilliant
Colour: E
Clarity: VVS2
Carat: 1.41

Precision of Cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Polish: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

6.90x6.75x4.45 (Length x Width x Depth)

Total Depth Percentage 65.9%
Table size Percentage 67%
Crown Height Percentage 11.7%
Pavilion Depth Percentage 50.4%

Pavilion Angle 44.8 Degrees
Crown Angle 32.1 Degrees
--------------------------------------

What do you pricescope experts thing of the above?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

do you have images?

Not yet. Just for clarity, I've not purchased the ring yet.
I've asked the vendor for some pictures which I hope will be forthcoming.

Looking foward to some pics.. Is it a PS vendor?? Not that it matters, was just curious... Best of luck!!!! :))

You really want to know if it's a cushion brilliant, old mine brilliant, or modified brilliant on the cert -- that is step 1. Step 2 is looking at the plot to figure out if it is a 8-main, 4-main, etc because the cutting style really varies for a cushion and it totally affects the look and light return. Btw, in a 1.41 ct, you're really really really going to notice the differences in cushion cutting styles.

My other comment is: Table % is bigger than depth %. It will give you a different look and different type of light return than a cushion that is deeper with a smaller table. I prefer smaller tables, but this is just a matter of preference -- and smaller tables and steeper crown angles (that go with smaller tables as a matter of cutting style wrt the old mine brilliants) have different light "challenges".

If you've settled on a square cushion, the other question is whether you want a square cushion with rounded corners and straight sides (like a H&A square cushion) or a square cushion with rounded corners and rounded sides (like this one: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/opinions-on-h-a-cushion.149861/#post-2715685,,, some say that this looks like a squished round).

Kaleigh - Nope, its not one of the PS vendors. I have to be careful divulging too much info here as my gf is also a reader of this site!!

antelope1 - Thank you for you thoughts. My understanding is that the cut is a Cushion Brilliant. I'm still looking around and will keep your comments in mind on my search!

if you're looking for a cushion I suggest CCL's guide to help you navigate the world of cushions, because not all cushions or even cushion brilliants will have the same appearance.
