Hi Guys,

I first want to say thank you to all of you who were very helpful during my engagement ring purchase from last December i''m happy to inform everyone she said yes and we''re getting married in april 2010. i wanted to get her some new diamond studs i went through GOG for the ring spent over 5300 on a 5 stone center .77 h&a round si1G ags cert, with sides stones with similar specs not cert h&a .15 side diamonds two on each side = .60tcw on it and i''m seeing what they can do for me regarding non cert h&a cut round studs .50tcw and the best they have is-

" 2-.25 GSI1 Ideal Cut Hearts & Arrows diamonds just like you purchased. These are also certified GIA
Altogether with the 14K white gold earrings it’ll be $1,076."

I feel that isn''t a very good deal considering the state of the economy right now. Is this a fair deal and can i get better soemwhere else you think? Any inputs would be much apprecited am i asking to much to get these type of studs at an $800- 900 price point anyone have any other vendor reccomendations? I really wanted to give GOG the return business again but money talks.

thanks
Tim

For well cut stones plus setting, I don''t think that''s a bad price at all. Sure, you might find cheaper, but you do get what you pay for. I would bet money the stones would not be as nice. Cut is everything in a diamond. it''s what makes it really sparkle. So that would be my own priority, but maybe not yours.

WhiteFlash's ready set go studs at 0.50ctw in white gold are $795. They are described as "expert selection" ideal cut diamonds, H/I color, SI clarity.

ETA: I don't think GOG's price is unfair. The diamonds I've listed don't mention certification and are lower color and clarity. You shouldn't feel that they aren't being fair to you; you just might not want/need to spend that much to get beautiful earrings. Maybe they can find you some I color stones to bring the price down?

But would not be upgradable. I always like that option.... But if you don't care, this would be the other way to go. (and as noted, not actually apples to apples)

Yes and the diamonds GOG suggested are also h&a which can carry a premium.

sounds like a good choice.

thanks for all the input not quite what i wanted to hear but fair market is what it is, too bad bc were going to GOG for the wedding bands and since it it a 5 stone she would need a 4 stone match more money there again. I guess i just don''t have the funds the get the studs now, maybe i''ll check out whiteflash and mom and pop places in town probably more likely to deal.

thanks
