I''m in a bit of a rush to buy a ring (not the way to be done, by the way) and i''m set on a "hearts on fire" setting but not the HOF stone. The only retailers in my area that carry HOF are maul stores and i don''t feel as if they''ll work with me and my time frame if i only purchased the setting from them.I''d rather buy the diamond from an online retailer or a free-standing jewelry store. Is there any HOF retailers that sell online or any way i can make this happen?

Why don't you go to the website and call the corporate number? If HOF will sell a setting only, this might be the way to find out without the face2face at the mall. Tell them you stumbled across their website while looking for settings to set a diamond you inherited. If it turns out that HOF will set your stone you can then have them tell you where the nearest dealer is to you. ( I know you know this already) but then you can call the dealer. You can say you just got off the phone with "the 800 number" who told you to call them (the dealer) to make an appointment, blah, blah...

Which HOF setting did you get?

this is the link to it:

it's a semi-channel white gold with 5 side stones on each side

I so glad it worked out for you without all the extra effort. Congrats. Your setting is lovely!

I had wanted a hearts on fire diamond (i didn't end upgetting one though) and andrews jewelers (i know, a huge chain) said they would set their diamond in another band, so they would prolly set another diamond in their band. i actually seem to remember asking that as well, and it was ok. glad it worked out for you. I was going to post today and tell you that, but for some reason I can't log on at work, or go to the main forum page, just specific sections like rockytalky.

Glad that it works out for you! The setting is lovely.

My question may sound silly. Now that you have the setting and the diamond, what will you do to get it assembled? Will the vendor you go next get upset that you didn't buy from him? Thank you.

the vendor i bought the setting from has agreed to set my stone in it. The people there were the best i've dealt with so far. not pushy or condescending, and by far the most knowledgable. I had posted about a burnt diamond that needs work, and i think i'll use him for that as well. I may not give him the diamond sale, but at least i can give him some other patronage. So to all the vendors out there, back off. Just because a potential customer is nodding along doesn't mean you've sold him. My approach is that i just won't return, and i'm sure i'm not alone.
