Wow! I just love this forum. Been lurking for a while. I understand more than I ever thought I would about diamonds and have decided to get a round stone. I''m not sure thou what the benefits of hearts & arrows are. Is that a must have? Everytime I think I know all I need to I get confused and panicked I''m going to make a costly mistake.

I want something that sparkels like crazy.

(And to think my parents simply went into a jewelry store and bought what they could afford!)

You can get a diamond that sparkles like mad without Hearts and Arrows patterns. You can get a diamond that sparkles like mad with Hearts and Arrows patterns. It's really all up to you.

Hearts and Arrows patterns are the result of optimal internal optical symmetry. Some H&A's are AGS0's and some aren't. Sparkle is a function of the inter relationship of the crown and pavillion angles. Get Sarin info or get the angles off an AGS Cert and crunch the Cut Adviser to help weed among candidates you are considering. The HCA is a great screening tool. Also, not all H&A’s are created equal. There are diamonds that are called ‘Hearts and Arrows’ by their vendors but fail to exhibit a clear, consistent H&A pattern. When considering an H&A stone online, always ask for pictures for further verification.

This is the style I'm falling in love with. I really love a variety of daimond shapes in one ring. I need to wait for my sister to get back from vacation to get her opinion.
