HCA 1.3 or 1.8, what would an ignorant consumer want?

both stones are 1ct, G color, AGS cert, etc.

Only difference is the HCA 1.3 is VS2 with an inclusion I could probably see if I tried very very hard, although, it is only visible from the bottom of the stone.

The HCA 1.8 is a VS1. I will not see any inclusions.

I think I have an issue with inclusion...but am no expert...and therefore shouldn''t...but I still do for some reason...why I don''t know...

not to be 2 critical but you can ask more than one question per thread.
Im going dizzy keeping up with the dozen threads on these 2 diamonds.
Can you post ideal-scope images for both as well as some more specs?

Unfortunately, I am unable to find one of the idealscope images...I had it, but I can't find it.

I HCA 1.3 vs2 stone appeared to have slightly more leakage than the HCA 1.8 vs1 stone.

Sheckrock, everytime I try to respond to you, I get totally distracted by your avatar (-: Hey guy, take a deep breath, you're going a little bit too fast. Also, like the other poster stated, it would be so much easier to answer your questions if you kept them on the same string. I think all your problems will be resolved if you pick the diamond you want and ensure from the vendor that it is "eye clean".

What strikes me first is the huge jump in carat weight--50 pts...usually, people have stones closer in size to consider and then evaluate the other factors...why the disparity?

If your GF wants a big rock, then go with the larger one, regardless.

not a 50 pt jump in carat weight just a .5 point difference on the HCA cut advisor. If you can stand living with a vs2 then go with it. You could possible save some cash by dropping in the clarity. However if the 1.8 has the better idealscope image and you would prefer the vs1 then stick with it. Pick whatever will make you happy.

Thanks for the correction--reading too fast and too late at night!

I doubt that you will see either inclusion, unless you have seen the stone and have actually seen it. I also doubt that you will see any visual difference between the two stones based on the HCA although the one that leaks a little more as you put it probably also has a little more contrast which will make it "jump" perhaps a perceptible little bit more.

My guess is that either stone would light your fire. More importantly, either stone would probably light HER fire.

sorry, I wasen't really clear.

they are both 1ct stones with AGS certs, G color.

One of the stones is a Vs1 and the other is a VS2.

the VS1 has an HCA(Holloway Cut Advisor) grade of 1.8.
the VS2 has an HCA grade of 1.3.

I think this is because the crown angle on the vs1 stone is slightly larger .4 degrees, etc.

I am currently reading about how the HCA grading system is not perfect and should only be used as an elimination tool. The HCA roughly grades the performance of the stone.

However, I may have an issue with inclusions...why?...I don't know...I've been told that the VS2 stone has no black or dark inclusions, but if i tried really hard, i might be able to see the inclusion from the bottom...although...once the stone is set I probably won't see the bottom...although...I might see the sides, and therefore, might see the inclusion, although very unlikely. The VS1 stone is totally eye clean.

It's the balance of clarity and HCA grading.

So which way should my cookie crumble?

Oh...greengook just answered you... thanks

Have you considered having both sent to an independant appraiser and looking at both in person and then deciding which you like best?
