In wanting to find the best (bang for the buck) that I can I''m getting frustrated not finding everything I''m looking for in a stone (and there doesn''t seem to be a great search engine to help me...) I figured I''d put it to ya''ll to see if anyone knew of a stone that would be great for me....

I feel my search criteria is more than wide enough (which is probably part of the problem)....

.52-.78 ct.

(d-f would of course be nice)
(f-g with slight/faint blue fluor)
(h-j with med. blue fluor) [G-I my preferred range]

IF-VS2 (really I guess VVS1-VS1 is more my range, but if an IF showed up or a VS2 had well-placed inclusions... they''d definately work

)

with good looking symmetry (sure, EX or ID.... I just would like for it to score well on the BrillanceScope if it were to be tested.... with nice symmetrical lasers jumping from it

)...

and of course and HCA under 2, but not necessarily an AGS 0 stone (as the price associated with the branding of AGS 0s/H&As is not something I''m particularly interested in paying)....

and a budget of $3200 for the stone (of course, that doesn''t mean I have to spend that much... I want bang for the buck...)

There''s a bazillion stones that fit the criteria, most of which require contacting the vendor to get the angles (which I''ve been doing) .... I just don''t want to narrow down enough to eliminate a great deal on a stone that''s better than what I''m really looking for (D-F, IF even VVS1, etc).

Thank you very much for your help or advice, maybe it''s guidance that I need (or a perfect stone to show up

Just out of curiosity, do you have amazing eagle eyes, or is there some sort of emotional reason you're aiming for that clarity? In that size stone, you can get an SI which is eye-clean without much of a hunt...

If you want bang for the buck, in that range I'd get a VS2 or even SI1 stone. You simply will not see any inclusion with your eye on a stone that size.

Also, size makes a very big difference in color from what I have seen. Stones that size are a bit harder to tell apart when detecting color. You probably would be best with H-I color. An H will be very hard to distinguish between better grades.

Personally I think IF is a waste of money, unless it has somesentimental value or you get pride from it. Personally, I think that if you can't see the difference with your naked eye, there isn't much point.

Here is a good one

I'm sure this would be a nice stone as well

You may want to see the cert on that first though.

Well, there are tons of stones, but I just aimed for what ended up in the upper part of that range, and I came up with this lovely thing:

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_Details.aspx?itemcode=AGS-4963307

which is just under $3200 with PS discount. you are paying a bit of premium on it, but you're saving a bit by going to H and just under .75. I don't know if you're incredibly sensitve to colour or not, but that H is going to be very, very hard to see on such a well cut RB.

another one:

Winfield's has a .74ct G VS2, but nothing online, since he's redoing his site right now, so you'll want to call. He has several other things that look right up your alley as well.

Basically, the stuff that looked the best to me was all from WhiteFlash and Winfield's. I believe Wink has his stones in inventory, so he can pull em out and take pictures for you, and the WhiteFlash "A Cut Above" stones are also (I believe) right there as well. Both places have a great reputation, so you can't go wrong with either place. I'd just call one of em up and tell them what you're looking for, since both of them have quite a few stones right below .75 that are more than eye-clean and defintely quite white.

You might want to think about HOW eye-clean and white you need, since it's going to be really, really, really hard to see anything in the sizes you're looking at.

From what I understand, you won't see a VS2 inclusion anyway. I just got an SI1 and you can't see any of the inclusions.

Why are you looking for such perfection in the diamond? A lot of what your looking for you can go lower and get more out of it.

I guess everyone has their own way of looking at things, but mine was...as long as no one can notice its flaws, the flaws themselves are just fine. It ends up, I can't notice the flaws either.

Anyway, here are some slammers in and around what your looking for (the flouresence may or may not be there):

.63 E VS1
.56 D VVS2
.55 H IF
.53 E VS1
.53 D VS1
.54 G VVS1
.55 E VVS1
.67 F VS1
.77 I VVS2 (Med Blue)

The clarity is important to me as I've been grading coins and other condition sensitive collectibles for 4+ years and have an unfortunate knack of picking out inclusions rather rapidly.

The color I completely agree with & would actually prefer a G-I stone, but would really like the med. blue fluor. as well (both to whiten it a bit and because my future fiance and I both think it's great).

Size-wise... I've gotten little help in understanding exactly what she would prefer... so I've narrowed my search as best I can...

The 'eagle-eyes' also are able to pick out moderate symmetry variations that are allowable even in the Ex range... esp. if it's an offcenter cutlet or table....

Again, any help would be great....

It's nice to see that a few of the diamonds recommended to me are ones that are on my short-list (including two of the diamonds mentioned from GOG.... absolute blazers....)

I appreciate the ideas... there's a few vendors mentioned thus far that I haven't checked out at all....

I just wanted to add my 2 cents....slight flourescence will have no impact on stone color...I believe medium flourescene starts to make a difference on the face up color. And fyi- F is "colorless," you won't need any flourescence!
