Greetings,

This GIA diamond report is:

Round, 6.73-6.76-4.09 mm, 1.1ct, GVS1, Cut: VG, Polish/Symmetry: EX, Fluo:None, Table:55, Depth: 60.6, angles (34.5 deg crown, 40.8 deg pav). There is one crystal and one pinpoint.

Seller is a dealer that was highly recommended to me but cannot completely trust and asks $7760.

Any clues? I really do not want to get ripped off...

It is a good cut and Price looks on par with online vendors. JA has a stone 1.1c G VS2 at USD7540.

EDT:
Hmm, I wonder why the VG cut grade. What is the girdle thickness?

Wow, wasn''t expecting an answer that fast, thanks so much!

girdle says: very thin - thin (faceted)

Also, culet: none.

May be VG because crystal symbol in near the center? dunno...

Welcome!

It looks like a very nice diamond, have you seen it in person? Check the very thin part of the girdle isn't an issue, that is what will give it the VG cut grade, they aren't always a problem depending on how much of the girdle is affected, it might only be a tiny portion and not a problem but check anyway.

If you don't feel good with this dealer, do you have any others you can try?

Probably the very thin to thin girdle cause the grade, as lorelei mentioned, check with vendor to make sure it is not an issue setting it, etc. The crystal will not determine cut grade, only clarity grade.

Cheers Lorelei,

Yes I saw it, it looks ''clean'' and I could not see the inclusions even with 10x...
I''m an newbe on diamonds of course.

I was concerned because I could not see (in this dealer''s place and even in rings i saw in another store) any stones that sparkled like the big Tiff''s diamonds I saw. But maybe their show room lighting has a lot to do about that... I told the dealer and he smiled and said "yes, halogen lamps do that"

I think of him better already for his lighting conditions. Spot lighting actually enhances poorly cut stones better than an ideal cut stone.

The diamond in question should sparkle nicely as it has good proportions, so jewellery store lighting can make any diamond look incredible, I know how dazzling some diamonds can look in halogen lighting but it isn't the best light to judge a diamond in as it can make even poorly cut diamonds look good.

What I would do is to ask to examine the diamond in daylight to make sure it appeals to you in the lighting where it will be worn - that is the proof of the pudding. And make sure the diamond is clean, if it has been handled a lot there is a chance there is muck and grease over it and that will dull it. Also diamonds have individual personalities with the way they can perform, so make sure you choose one which appeals to you.

Stone oh yes, you''re so right about crystal determining clarity only.

LoL about Tiff''s spot lights...

Thanks very much!
