After much thought, my boyfriend and I have been looking at various options for diamonds (size, shape, colors, etc) as well as different setting ideas. Since viewing all the gorgeous GOG chunky cushions that have been posted lately, I literally fell in love. Most recently, ecf8503 posted her beautiful L color cushion from GOG and my jaw dropped at how gorgeous an L color can be - especially in that cut! My dilemma is the fact that I''m completely set on the Vatche Grace setting in Platinum or a custom design halo with similar design. With Vatche, I assume the pave diamonds will be much higher in color - do you think this will truly effect the beauty of the L center? I sort of thought the slight contrast would be nice. My other option would be to go custom but will Whiteflash or other vendors use lower color pave if I request? And if so, how low can I normally request them to go?

In other words, if it were you, what would you do and why? Also, if someone has or knows of someone with a lower color center diamond in a higher color halo, please let me know! I would love to see what something like this would look like!

Here''s an L colourd stone in a G/H halo link

I love the contrast between warm and white stones myself (I have an M with H side stones).

I''m sure alot of venders can use lower coloured pave if requested but I''m not sure how low they go in colour, you''d have to ask.

I personally prefer the look of the GOG chunky cushion in an atique-look solitaire setting but it would look brilliant however it is set.

Ask your chosen vendor if this would be possible.

It''s personal preference, but I would want melee that were close in color to the center stone. I''m more of a matchy person on certain things, this being one of them. But that''s just me.

You could ask GOG if Vatche can lower the melee on that setting, since they carry them they might know (or they could call Vatche). If they can''t, and that''s what you wanted, I''m sure whoever made it could get you lower color melee. GOG also does custom work, which might make that easier.

Thanks for the info everyone! Sorry it took me a bit to respond - I''m taking finals for two of my courses this weekend (yuck!)

I actually had no idea that GOG did custom work so I think we''ll be going that route. Thanks for making our decision that much easier

I've seen lots of older diamond rings done with a light yellow tint center and bright white sidestones. Search for posts by "ericad" and you'll see some L to N diamonds in platinum with white pave stones.
