Has anyone received a gift cert. from Cartier?

I almost fell off my chair when I opened the letter. Cartier sent me a gift cert. for $1,000 off purchases of $5,000 or more. And, they'll donate $500 to a charity of choice. I was flabbergasted that things have come to this. I've only bought 4 small items from them, which cost way below $5,000.

I am not totally surprised that Cartier is sending out incentives--it seems pretty in line with the rest of the way the world is currently working...people aren''t interested in paying full price anymore because they don''t have to even Tiffany''s dropped the cost of their diamonds...but, IMO its little more than a coupon and not so much of a gift certificate since you have to spend $5,000 in order to take advantage of it...its'' not a $1,000 credit no strings attached. However, the charity donation is an interesting twist. If I were looking to spending $5,000 on "name brand" jewelry, the charity twist would certainly draw me in...

I bought a rolling ring earlier this year and didn''t even get one of their Christmas cards...

I really liked the picture too... They did send me a huge catalog, but there''s not much I can do with that though.
A gift certificate would have been nice. I have been eyeing a Roadster for quite a while now!

Yes, but the card would not make a difference in getting the Roadster, the gift certificate on the other hand... I might have been able to talk Hubby into it, lol!

eta, and I do love that a portion of the profits would have been donated.

I wonder which customers Cartier sent these out to, as it seems not all everyone received one.

I don''t think it will make a difference in me getting the Roadster, but now I feel special, lol!

I was telling hubby this morning that you had offered yours and he was like "Harriet who?" and I said, "Harriet on the computer!" he sorta rolled his eyes at me and said "Yanno, that could be Harriet, my girlfriend from college!" He was trying to be funny

who wants mine? I just got one, but I think it was because we just bought a LOVE bracelet and I think that is our limit in Cartier spending for the year so that 5k minimum is a little too far away
