I''m considering purchasing from www.platinum-rings.cc, aka. Platinum Engagement Rings (a division of Whiteflash), but I have a few questions and opinions that I would like to get before I do so. I have been having a trouble getting a hold of them via email. I sent requests to see the AGS report and they have not communicated back to any of my emails. Thus, I''ve brought my concerns to you all...

-Are they a reliable company?
-Do they sell you what you expected? (In other words, does the diamond match the description on the site?)
-How does their work rate when they set a diamond in a ring?
-Do they send the respective AGS/GIA/etc report with the diamond?
-Do they ship/send it when they say they will? Is it within an appropriate time frame?
-Has anybody ever tried to negotiate a price with them? ...much less any on-line jeweler?
-Does anyone have any additional info that might be beneficial for me?

Thanks!
Greg

From what I know, they ARE basically WhiteFlash. Just another division. I was working with www.diamondwholesale.cc and it was Denise @ WhiteFlash waaayyyy back when about a year or so ago. So it's the same company...or at least the same people.

If email doesn't work, pick up the phone and call them. Email is not foolproof and I don't think hasty judgement should be made if someone does not answer their email fast enough.

In terms of reliability and reputation, run a search for WhiteFlash in the subject and you will find TONS of testimonals, 99% good. I myself have purchased from them recently a small ACA and they treated me exceptionally.

Good luck!

I'm not judging them, I'm just a concerned buyer. I do plan on calling them, but it's easier (because it sneakier) for me to converse by email... especially since my girlfriend and I work at the same place and basically live together.

But is there any reason why Whiteflash would also have 2 other companies that have virtually the same merchandise and policies? It's like their competinng against themself.

White Flash made a custom half bezel pendant last spring and my new half bezel ring I got a week ago. Both pieces were fabulous!! Mr. Lee is their Master Jeweler and his work is top notch!!

Good questions Greg....when you call them, ask them and then let us know!

I have often wondered why the various urls, maybe for ease of customer searching (e.g. you can find them in more ways than one)?

I'm not sure - but when I was looking the platinum ring site had more higher end settings - for example - they listed a setting that held a 3 carat diamond when the regular WF site only went up to 2 (off the top of my head). Also, people may only search for platinum - this way the hit is the top of a google search.

But their merchandise doesn't seem to cross-over... with the exception of a few settings.

Your exactly wright. I just talked to Lesley at Whiteflash.com about why all the different diamond companies are owned whiteflash. She said that by having a platinum-rings site, fire and ice site, engagement rings site, etc it just bumps them up on the search engine making them (Whiteflash) the company that you'll end up doing business with. She also mentioned that Whiteflash.com is the only e-commerce site that you can actually place an order online, whereas with the others you have to call in your order.

Hope this clears somethings up.
