Hello ladies and gents,

i've seen a pic of the halo that I'd like (pls see link above - page 13, bottom left, halo'ed RB, next to the oval ring), except I don't know what it's called and who would be the best person to do it. I know LM has done soooo many drop dead gorgeous pieces, but his halo's tend to be a bit on the chunker side (if I am wrong here pls correct me but no stone-throwing pls!!

).

I LOOOOVEEEEE the delicacy of this setting. It is so yummy, so quietly elegant, so classy!! and yet the ring would still be so commanding of attention!!

So what is this type of halo called and who do I go to? Would I still go to LM and if so, how can I ask him to do exactly what I'd like (from what I hear, wrongly or rightly, LM likes to do what he likes to do)?

All suggestions and comments are welcome.

Thanks.

I''m not sure I will be of any help, bc I am debating the same thing right now for a cushion... I''ve read a lot of opinions on here saying that halo-ing a diamond that big, as far as an engagement ring goes, makes it look to cocktail-lly. I would most of the time disagree, bc for me the more BLING the BETTER!!
2.gif
Although, I do understand what you are saying as far as the halo being too large... I too prefer a teeny tiny halo no matter what the size of the stone, just a personal preference.

That ring is gorgeous. And as far as Leon goes, I would have to disagree at this point. I am actually meeting with him next Monday, and I have had 2 conversations with him at length on the phone, and he is not really that way. I sent him a pic of a ring I had been coveting for a few years now, and he flat out told me he did not like it
40.gif
... BUT if that was what I wanted he would be happy to make it for me. He will make whatever you want, but I think a lot of people give him a lot of freedom in their design bc he really is sooo good. The man def has an eye for beautiful pieces...

Do you have the stone yet??

Thank you so much for your reply, CrookedRock.

It''s really good to learn that LM would do what you''d like him to do, even if he disagrees with it (which actually I don''t know if he will, in this case). But i''m glad to hear that he''s open to doing other designs too.

I''m like you, in that the more bling the better. There''ve been a lot of suggestions here on PS (which I appreciate, I really do) that you CAN go too far in halo''ing a larger stone ("larger" in my opinion is 3ct upwards, but not large large, which is again IMO about 5ct upwards). But what can I say, I am a total size w****!! LOL!!

I do have the stone, in fact, I''ve had it since 2006. I recently had it reset into a simple Tiffany-lookalike classic setting but unfortunately that hasn''t satisfied my desire for a larger (or at least a larger-looking) stone, hence the halo.

Could you possibly do me a favour please? Could you possibly ask him for me, when you meet Leon on Monday, what he thinks of this design and see (as you''ll be meeting him face-to-face) what his reaction is like?!! Pretty please?? I know I can always email him or call him, but there''s no substitute for a face-to-face meeting to judge what his feeling is . I truly believe that when someone is really interested in something, something that they really believe in, that''s when you''ll get the best out of them. Thank you sooo much in advance.

I really like that setting with the halo!

I have copied a pic and put it on my halo page. I literally have about 8 pages of things I like that I am going to Leon with. He'll probably turn me away for being a pain, but I hope not bc I really want him to make this for me... I'll keep you posted on what he says...
I with you in the size wh**e club. I can't get enough bling... My BF thinks I am nuts... We are going up to choose from 2 different stones one being a 4+ct the other just under 3.5... and I told him I would have to halo the smaller one to make it look bigger... what the heck is wrong with me??? I have promised him that I would never want an upgrade if we went big from the beginning, but who am I kidding, this is big trouble. I'm only 24 so I have a ways to go and I am convinced no matter the size of the stone everyone gets DSS...

Let me know if you come across or have seen any amazing halos for a cushion... I love love love the one that mara tried on at Joe Escobar... it was reposted in this thread . From one SW to another.. any thoughts?

ETA: Let me know if you can find any other pics of that ring for me to take to Leon... I am looking too, but no luck really...

Hi CrookedRock,

Thanks for replying so quickly again.

I''m not sure which one of the rings you''re referring to, but they''re all beautiful. In fact, a lot of halo''ed rings are quite beautiful but I think the one that''s most understated is the one for me. Here''s a similar picture from the front page of the Celllini''s website:

Thanks for offering to take pics along to Leon. I''m definitely looking forward to hearing what Leon says.

You''re only 24? You lucky lucky girl!!

Isn''t it?

Would anyone like to offer your opinion on what this type of halo is called? Is it just micro pave? It looks so much more "micro" than even HWs''.

I think the reason the halo looks so delicate in the ring you want is because the stone in that ring is HUGE! I''m sure if you just show Leon a picture and emphasize to him that you want the halo super tiny compared to the stone, he''ll understand.

I agree with urse... it looks really delicate in comparison to the large diamond. It also looked like there was not a metal edge on the outside of it (like HW has that "scalloped" edge to it formed by the diamonds rather than a straight metal edge)... I think that softens the look too.

It''s very pretty. If you want your 3ct haloed... go for it... not everyone would, but it''s not everyone''s ring- it''s yours.

Gotta say... I want that stack of bangles on one of those previous pages! Each and every one of them!

Thanks, Urseberry. I''m sure you have a point. That stone does look huge, doesn''t it, he he?!!!

Thanks for your reply, Sera.

It does look very delicate, doesn''t it? I have wondered myself if the edge is also scalloped like the HW''s but I''m not sure. It definitely does not have a straight metal edge to it, which I agree is the key to the softened, delicate look.

I''ve pretty much made much my mind. Thank you. I think I know what the other PS''ers mean and for some people a halo''ed 3ct can be quite big, especially if the halo is wider and have a metal edge to it. I think it will not be too big for me, but I''m sure some of my friends willl disagree, but again as you said, I''m the one that''s going to wear it, he he!

I agree, Caroline.

And to have your blessing on the ring is quite significant, seeing that you''re a lady with excellent taste, who has so many exquisite items of jewellery.

I''m glad I stumbled upon their advert, quite literally!! It was on a page of a magazine in a hotel that hubby and I were staying at last week. I almost tripped over the magazine that my DH had put on the floor. I can''t wait to go to NY to visit their stores. I''m sure I can''t afford most of their pieces, particularly the very droool-worthy coloured diamond rings.

, but it''d be worth it just to go and ogle them!!

Hey Phoenix!

OK so I got the other pic and I''m ready to go. It''s actually a great pic for me to take for my own project bc the scale of the halo is what I like, so Thank You! I have also taken note of the store address bc I would love to see their pave in person. So I will let you know what I think!
Yah...24... enable away!

I don''t know if you saw my other thread but I actually think I like the smaller stone better between my 2 choices, and that one is a 3.17 that he says faces up larger!
31.gif
So I am still starting in a good place. Maybe by the time I''m 40 I can have some rocks like DBlu has! LOL! GORGEOUS!!!

I''ll let you know what the man says as soon as I get back which is late Monday night...

Hey back at you, CrookedRock!!

I''m sooo glad you''re going to see BOTH LM and the Cellini stores. I can''t wait to hear back from you. Monday is toooo far ahead! LOL!! But I''m waiting with anticipation. Hey, I just had a thought, I wonder if Cellini would consider selling the setting without the stone? That way, I can get my local jeweller to re-set my ring without my having to wait 4-5 weeks (I don''t know if I can part with my "baby" for that length of time, it''d be painful!!

).

I know what you mean by Dblu''s rocks. Check out also Diamondfan''s 9ct Tiffany EC, along with her other gorgeous baubles.

(I''m soooo jealous, btw, I wish I could go with you to see LM and also droool over those Cellini''s beauties

)

I did check out yr GOG cushion. You''re definitely a girl of impeccable taste. Nice one!!

Phoenix, thanks for the compliments. I actually have a Cellini white gold and diamond cuff that I love. Their pieces are gorgeous. I think those rings look great. I also love Leon as well. I would love to get a right hand ring with a nice center stone from him, though my next wish list item is the Cartier all pave rolling ring, but with white diamonds. So Leon will have to take a back seat because I have some things on my list, and I also just added a diamond and reset my emerald cut and platinum eternity band.

I think you cannot go wrong with one of those gorgeous styles. I cannot wait to see it.
