So I still have this WF diamond in my possession that I am STILL mulling over...

(See following posts if you care to see specs and proof of my obsessive indecisiveness

The main thing that concerns me is if the face it too "dark" for my preference. It is certainly a very well-cut, very sparkly stone...but I think the 54% table and "fat" arrows gives it kind of this darker appearance on the face.

I also noticed that when I placed it into the halo setting I''m looking to get that the face appeared even darker (this also happened with a different stone when I put it into the setting...the jeweler thought it was b/c the halo diamonds didn''t exactly match the center stone, but I think it was more about a "shadow" being created by the halo).

So I''m just curious if others w/ halo settings (preferably those w/ prongs vs bezel, b/c that''s what I''m planning to get) noticed this when their stone was set??

It''s possible that I am now just exaggerating the "darkness" in my mind, b/c we did compare it side by side with other stones when we first got it and I only slightly picked up on it w/ a couple of stones...But since we lost my alternative stone to another buyer, that one is sticking in my mind as being "a lot" brighter b/c it had a 56% table...maybe it wasn''t actually "a LOT," but I do recall noticing some difference.

UGH...I just can''t decide what to do!!

I have a prong-set halo, and I certainly would not call my stone anything resembling dark when set. My table is not as small as yours though, not quite sure how that might affect things.

Personally, I am thinking this is not the stone for you if you are having so many doubts. Even if the stone was perfect, it''s no longer perfect for you; you need one that will be mind clean for you, or you''ll always second-guess yourself.

I know, I know. I''m probably just over-thinking it at this point...

Can you tell me what your table size is? Did you notice any change in appearance at all? Or does it pretty much look the same as it did unset?

It really looks the same to me- bright and vibrant as ever! My table is close to 57% (can''t remember exactly).

Mine is 100% brighter than it was in its X-prong setting. But mine is a prong set step cut with a halo that reflects single cut melee flash right into it.

opps, posted this in the wrong thread!

anyway, ....i think mine sparkles more in the halo, no it does not look darker. it is surrounded by micropave, of the same color. if your halo consists of whiter diamonds, then it''s going to look darker. my table is 58.5%. i can''t comment on the shadow blocked light theory you got going. i dont see that happening on mine. i tried out a darker stone once and set it into a halo with really white diamonds, that made stone look almost brown. im willing to bet its a color issue.

Thanks for sharing guys. OK, so I''m thinking more now that maybe it did have a lot to do w/ the halo diamonds on the setting. I mean, that is what the jeweler''s opinion was, too...

I also looked at some of icekid''s photos of her ring and from the pictures her diamond actually very closely resembles mine from the face up. And hers looked really nice in the setting, so maybe once it''s set and I see the final product I''ll be really happy with it!
