I have a beautiful K-L stone that faces more like an I-J. I have found a setting I like that is a halo with a split shank. Would you do G/H stones to provide a contrast to the warm center or do J-ish stones to match the center? FWIW, I'll be wearing it as a right hand ring. It's 1.88 ct so it's a good sizes stone but it is excellent-ideal cut and gorgeous. Opinions?

Thsnks so much! I've learned a lot from reading here but I've never posted. Thanks for all your expertise.

Hi Purple! :wavey:

Thanks for telling us about your stone. What type of look do you want? Do you want your halo to contrast with the diamond or blend? Do you want to emphasize the color or downplay the color?

Maybe some of the gals with "warm" stones can advise you, if you give us a little more information about the look you want.

Hope you will post pictures when it's done! :))

If you want to emphasize the color, go with a halo- even J color melee will contrast and make the center stone stand out and the color more intense. (I had an M color in a halo w/ J color stones, and it really made the M color noticeable). If you want to downlplay the color, a different setting w/out melee will make the center stone look lots whiter- I reset my M w/out a halo, and it looks so much whiter it's amazing.

Hi :D

I was wondering the same thing when I got my L color pear. I wound up putting it in a a halo with E/F color melee and it looks dreamy. It definately emphasizes the warmth in some lighting but even when it does I LOVE it. I think it all depends on the cut of the stone. As long as the stone is nice and sparkly I think you can do whatever you want with it. Here's a pic and if you search user topics I recently did a whole photo shoot with my new sparkly.

Ditto. It is the size of the melee relative to the center that brings out the contrast much more than any color difference. Either embrace that you will see contrast and go with, say, H/I melee or else choose another style of setting.
