Is anyone planning out their Halloween costumes yet?

Share some of your best Halloween costume ideas from years past (photos = extra points!)

I've never been big on dressing up, even in college. This year, however, DH & I want to throw a costume party for family and friends. We're at a total loss. I want to avoid being a "sexy-anything" and would prefer something I can make on my own. I'm sooo not creative when it comes to stuff like this.

My dog's costume is already decided on 8) She's going to be a squirrel.

I wanted to dress up this year (as a gold digger - it'd be a big joke with my friends from Ultimate), but I'll be up in the mountains with friends and I don't think we're going to dress up.

One of my favorite costume ideas I've ever seen is for three guys (not what you're asking for but it's so funny, I had to share).

I took this pic Halloween 2006. Weekend at Bernie's!

And one I've always wanted to go with is this: You wear blue scrubs and glue puffs of cotton to them. Carry around a squirt bottle. When people ask what you are, you say "cloudy with a chance of showers" and spray them with the water.

I had a friend at work that wore a pink sweatsuit and a nametag that said "Floyd" and she was "Pink Floyd."

A coworker wore mini cereal boxes glued to her sweater and fake blood smeared all over and plastic knives sticking out of the boxes and she was a "Cereal Killer."

A friend of mine was a Freudian Slip one year - she wore a slip and wrote Freudian psychology terms all over it (not sure if that's the right term for them, but you know what I mean).

The best halloween costume I've seen on a grown up was Gilligan. My friend dressed up in a red long sleeved shirt, white pants, white fishing hat and made a life preserver that said SS Minnow and wore it around her neck. It was pretty funny and obviously very easy.

I'm being Snooki :)

I have long dark hair and I'm close to Snookis height and I plan on making a HUUUUUGE poof, even more absurd than how she wears hers. I will make myself look extra orange, wear cotton candy pink lipstick and obnoxious eyelashes.

I'm also gonna buy a cheap pair of sunglasses and put rhinestones all over them.

I'll also be carrying around a jar of pickles and a bottle of hair spray.

Lastly, I'm going to try to get a shirt that is identical to the one they have to wear at the gelato shop they work out.

Im excited :)

I'm not sure I'll dress up but I have already bought my children (all 3) their costumes. My older daughter (10) will be some sort of beautiful vampire, my 6 yr old daughter will be a fairy with wings bigger than she is and my son will be a burger (lettuce, tomatoes and sesame seed bun).

My husband and I are still thinking of what we could be...

hahahaha TG those made me laugh so much!

I've never dressed up for Halloween, so I live vicariously thru my kids. Last year was the first year I couldn't tell London what to be. And this year I can't even tell Trapper what he is to be-he's already decided.

Last year London was a horse, Trapper was a cowboy. The year before London was a 50's girl w/poodle skirt etc and Trapper was a gangster. This year London will be a honey bee, Trapper will be a dinosaur.

Working today so I'll post pics when I get home.

This is awesome! Pleeeeease post pics!!

I'm really not into dressing up. This year I'll be on a trip with friends to Long Island wine country, so no dressing up needed!

I am thinking about dressing up the bunnies though! My vet's office has an open house/costume party for pets on the 24th (I think LovesVintage posted some pictures from it last year - I hope she goes again!). I was thinking of dressing Hannah up as a witch and Otto as a magician-rabbit pulling a human magician out of his hat ::)

My parents used to go to an office party with other psychologists when they were younger - I think at least one person was a Freudian slip every year. lol A classic!!

I absolutely will :)

I think a couple of my other friends are going to be the other cast members hahah

I think this may be our costume this year..

I dress up at work every year that I'm working, customers love it and I'm the one who's always happy to look ridiculous anyway, so I'm cool with it. I usually wear the same thing every year. I do really excellent cat makeup- I did theater makeup professionally for a while- and so I have a good cat face I can do. And ears, collar, and a tail. And if I'm feeling silly, some ridiculously huge black sparkly fairy wings for good measure. And whatever else I feel like wearing, sometimes a corset, stompy boots, and a big foofy skirt and leopard print tights. It's always entertaining (to me anyway, lol).

If you're into face painting I can post some pics of the cat face makeup if you like- it is not your average black nose plus whisker stripes! It isn't a, you know, super awesomely original idea, but it looks very cool. And cleavage isn't required :wink2:

Over the years I've seen some neat costumes. One was Chihuly (eyepatch, afro, attitude, check) at a Halloween party when I was in art school- the guy who wore it was GREAT, totally hilarious. He was signing all these random objects all night.

I've seen some great Indian goddesses, like Kali with some nice severed heads. You and DH could do an indian god & goddess pair.

I'm sure there's other neat ones I am forgetting- I've seen the Freudian Slip before, and thought it was cute.

I'm a child at heart (Dh said I was deprived as a child) so I dress up for Halloween every year. One year I was Chyna the wrestler, another time Iw as Pinnocchio, and the most recent Halloween I was sexy Dorothy, and got my whole department to dress up as the rest of the cast and Crew of Wizard of Oz. I really want to show you guys the picture, but don't know how to obscure people's faces.

I love dressing up for Halloween! Some recent costumes: flapper, pregnant Nicole Richie, Daisy Duke, Tinkerbell, and a cowgirl. I might do the flapper costume again this year--I love doing Twenties hair and makeup.

ETA: I saw this and thought was kind of funny, very low-fuss, and Halloween-ish with the fake blood and bruises: Get two t-shirts and write JACK and JILL on the backs of each. Jack can wear a broken crown and have lots of blood coming from his head. Jill should have lots of bruises from tumbling after, bruised face and bloody lips. They can both carry around tin pails of water. (Alternatively, Jack and Jill could wear schoolboy/girl outfits with nametags.)

I love Halloween! I dressed up as Audrey Hepburn for years. I had so much fun replicating her outfits and hairstyles. Now I need a new icon to dress up as each year, but I haven't found a good one, yet.

Last year friends of mine went as email and an attachment. He wore a white shirt with a big "e" on it, and she put paperclips all over her shirt. Not super original, but not overdone, either. It was cute.

The Botanic Garden has a Spooky Pooch Parade every year and everyone dresses up their pups and parades them around the garden. Last year Bailee was a French maid, oooh la la! We need to come up with something clever for this year's costume, I'm trying to think of a theme that would include all of us.

I always end up being a cowgirl. Unoriginal yes, but at the end of the night I'm the one in comfy jeans and boots instead of lugging around some crazy costume!

My parents have a poodle/spaniel/dachshund mix, and I am trying to get my mom to put him in a hot dog costume and dress up as a hot dog vendor. I don't think she's sold on this yet, but I'm working on it.

ok- here's a few that DH and i have used over the past 2 years.
BTW: last year i saw a girl go as "Flo" from the Progressive commercials...i JUST may have to do that this year if i am brunette by then. it was the best!

first up:
last year- Dog and Beth (his wife) from "Dog the Bounty Hunter"- i LOVED this.

you can't see the awesome pink nails...but i was sassy. OH! and DH has a cat toy glued into his wig. Dog always has those feathers and crazy braids- this was a feather cat toy. Perfect touch!

2 years ago: DH was Jesus. He had long hair, grew the beard for 2.5 months. He was so proud. This was one of his greatest achievements.

Last but not least: i was a pumpkin. I had these AWESOME green and black tights. DH went around "blessing" everyone all night. He drank from his "challis" all night as well. So much fun.

Well thanks! I know...its kinda scary how great it ended up turning out. I was going to dress up as a hooker, but we thought iit was way inappropriate. He grew up in Catholic schools...I hope no one is offended. He made 5x7 prints of his Jesus picture and framed it to give to his grandma and both of our moms for Christmas that year. His grandma (devout Catholic) replaced her picture of Jesus she had in her living room with the picture of Andy.

Bwhahahaha Jesus, that is hysterical! :appl:

Post the make-up, post the make-up! Also, I LOVE the Chihuly. That is hilarious.

I'm going to be in New Orleans for Halloween this year, and I am totally stumped on, a) where to go, and b) what to be.

Last year we went to the Halloween parade in NYC, where I was the Red Queen from Alice, and the hubs was the Mad Hatter (they were awesome costumes, actually: will have to see if I can find the pics). The year before that, we went to the Long Beach Queen Mary event - he was undead, and I was a demon. The year before that ... I think we were just getting back from our wedding, so we were low-key and stayed in. And the year before that, it was alterna-Dorothy (i.e., ruby slippers and a green face, or what happens when Dorothy stays in Oz and takes over). This year ... ?

I tend to love the literary costumes, and I tend to base them off of whatever cool random thing I find. Any suggestions, lovely PSrs?

DH and I haven't been dressing up but I always wanted to go as Jay and Silent Bob :)

I was thinking this year we could do Hogwarts robes but DD decided to be a ladybug (instead of Hermione, she was also considering Lucy from Narnia or Katara the water-bender so the ladybug came from left field!), so doesn't really go together, lol.

LOL at Chihuly. At first I thought you meant he actually went as a piece of Chihuly glass, which could also be a cool and creative use of balloons...

I love hearing about everyone's ideas for costumes! I've never liked dressing up though for some reason. My birthday's that day and whenever people ask where my costume is, I just say that I'm the birthday girl. We do have a Halloween parade every year at school, and it's really fun to see the kids' costumes.

I love the pictures!!!!

I just bought two flower costumes and one butterfly costume for my dog and my mom's dogs to wear to the Botanic Garden Spooky Pooch Parade. We're going with a theme--at the garden--so I'm going to dress up as a butterfly bush, myself. Maybe DH will be a watering can.
