Can anyone guess what type of ring this is? My friend just sprung on me the secret of her "wish" ring in case he asks me....how the heck can I even tell him WHAT it is? She gave me no idea, she doesn''t remember where it''s from, but I have a guess as to what it is, but let''s see if anyone else knows...

And the side view...

looks like a short emerald cut to me with trapezoid side stones??? But maybe she likes the look of an asscher?

Can anyone guess carat (center and total) and place of purchase...I have some clues, but no real idea. She's useless. She says who cares how much it costs, she's not buying it...

Nice.

That ring is from Tiffany and it's absolutely beautiful!

That particular ring may be from Tiffany's, but the design certainly isn't exclusively thiers. A large number of companies have that particular style - until I noticed the pointy prongs I had it confused for another manufacturer entirely for a second.
In short, it is available both with or without the box, as desired.

Why do I suspect she wants the box?

Hmmm. In that case, she should just check here:

Hee Hee. Definitely Friday....

YAY! Friday Tiffany thread!!!!

I would NEVER buy an e-ring at Tiffany!!!

(there....I did my part for the day...can I go home now?)

I love that ring too. And while there are obvioulsy similar settings elsewhere, I have looked high and low for a ring that has the elements that draw me to this one. First, the stones are set very low in the Tiffany ring. The Center stone is almost down on the finger. Second, the "bottom" part of the band (when you are looking at it from the side) is uninterrupted -- i.e., the prongs don't go all the way down. That gives it a more subtle and elegant look to my eyes. I haven't found a similar setting elsewhere with these elements. By way of example, I have attached (and/or included a link to) a setting from Blue Nile that is theoretically similar, but not quite right for me. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know of someone in the San Francisco area who could custom-make such a piece?

Thanks!

That's nice! Sure that setting can be recreated, but the pictures can well be used as model for what one may want from a ring

There are some questions unanswered... about the size of the stones. I was curious too! So here's some estimate, based on a bunch of assumptions:

Assumed: ring band 2.5mm (front, tapering to 2mm in the back)
ring size ~ 7

Center stone: 11mm x 9.3mm (1.18 LxW ratio), depth 60%, table 68%, crown 22%
Sides: 3mm wide and 'tapered' sides of 4.7 (shortest one near band) and 6.2 (largest, near stone). The short keel (edge in place of culet) of this stone makes it look 'asscherish' - as mentioned above on this thread.

These are very approximate... but I would believe that the general picture is right give or take a millimeter here and there. I did not expect the 'poster boy' for those rings to be the smallest of the collection - all the rings presented in those pictures are quite substantial, actually. The center stone here should be about 3cts, if my guesses have not run amok completely.

Wow AnA,

You are amazing! I think Nicrez should be able to guide her friends BF easily with your info!
