Ok, so here's a little fun for y'all.

The picture below represents my latest acquisition, a 0.76ct H&A SuperbCert diamond. It's of course a more than beautiful stone, with extremely crisp symmetry and sharp H&A images, and the color, which is a solid K, faces up extremely white and looks more like a G or a H, even though it has nihil fluorescence.

Now, I thought it would be fun to make a poll to guess the clarity grade of the diamond. I am attaching a 15x magnified picture in B/W so that you can get an idea of how the stone loupes.

Once I get a fair number of replies, I will disclose the actual clarity grade as per the GIA report that accompanies the stone. Please vote in the poll section and then post a reply explaining your choice. I hope that both consumers and pro’s will chime in and express their opinions./www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]

Oh, yes, special thanks to PQCollectibles for helping me once again during the buying process and to Barry at SuperbCert for offering me one of his cherry picked stones at an exceptional price.

OK Giangi, I'll bite and be the first to make a fool of myself and my knowledge or lack thereof.

First of all, I think the stone looks great and congratulations. You guys are slowly convincing me of the value of lower color grades I would have never considered before.

Anyways, back to the diamond. My guess is SI-2 based on what looks like a large feather on the left side, some small crystals and some feathers (graining?) on the right side (I have no idea though!)

I'm even guessing based on the nature of this post that it could be an I1 that looks amazingly clean that you got a fabulous deal on
2.gif
.

So my official guess is SI-2, but I'm thinking I1 knowing how good of a shopper you are.

Oh, and if I'm totally wrong, which is probable, I apologize if I insulted you on the clarity of your diamond.
1.gif

I'm guessing I1 because an I1 owner loves to see the shock on people's faces when they see a Superbcert cut! I have a 1.17 round F I1, amazingly white. My best friend thought it was a VS1! I'll attach pics next week; picking up my finished ring on Monday! I love your stone!

I'm throwing my hat in at SI1. I'm not sure if it's a trick, because it looks very clean! The diamond looks great!

Im not guessing its going to be something that looks different then the picture. I dont know how many times Ive seen that same picture telling people here is your diamond.

What do you mean, Iceman?? Sure, that's MY diamond. I know that for sure.
1.gif
And, Barry doesn't use stock images.

I just wanted to create a funny poll.

HINT: There are NO black inclusion, nor crystals in the stone. There's a little surface graining but it's visible only under very strong light and 30x magnification.

My guess is it's an SI2, but knowing Barry it's probably one of those superb I1's that he get's a kick out of.

I am going for I1 since I know from experience that the inclusion on the left will be a lot easier to see under a microscope.

I also know from experience that the stone will be gorgeous to the naked eye.

Wink

There is no way you can tell the clarity of the diamond from that picture..

oh rockslover don't be a sour pickle.

Giangi...you little sneak! CONGRATS on the new diamond purchase, it looks stellar.

I voted SI2 because of the graining to the right of the stone and the feather to the left. Sure it's 15x mag, but that graining to the right looks extensive.

However, now I am thinking maybe I1...I was torn between SI2 and I1 and did not stop to think that Barry seems to love those cherry looking I1 stones...so if its a K I1 that must have been a spectacular deal!
2.gif
How beautiful! I have no doubt that it's eye clean, if the inclusions are all white.

MORE PICTURES!

What are you going to do with it, just hold it and croon to it like your ACA? Jewelry, boy! It goes well with D&G outfits.
9.gif

ohh OK Mara,

Sorry Iceman..

OK, I voted I1 from the picture, but have to admit a bias because I knew it was a SuperbCert... I had the pleasure of seeing one of Barry's SC I1s, and it was awesome. Otherwise, I might have voted SI2. C'mon now, what is it???

Thanks Mara!!
1.gif
You know what, my D&G wardrobe looks great on its own.
9.gif
j/k with ya, sweetie! I have much more in my collection, one of these days I will have to buy a digital camera.

Unless you want to fly over to Italy and have a look in person??

Once I will get a few other guesses I will post the actual grade as well as magnified pix, H&A pattern and IdealScope image.

Don't tempt me...any excuse for a trip to Italy!

Giangi,

You're not going pull a fast one on us and tell us that it's really an I2 are you? That I would be amazed at.

You'd be welcome anyday, Mara.
1.gif

Hey Noobie! Ah ah! Well, it surely is NOT an I2!
1.gif
2.gif

Giangi,

I voted I1 just because I think it's a trick question!! The photo is very clean, I can see the feather and graining and am also wondering if there if another feather of some kind toward the center.

It looks stunning in any event! Congratulations!

Giangi, YOU bought that stone?! Damn! I tried to talk my husband into letting me buy it but he said no. Then it was gone off the web site after only one or two days. I'm sooooo jealous. And I know the clarity. You got a steal!

Ooops, Patty!!
6.gif
Yes, I got it. But don't feel bad. By the time you saw it on SC site, I had already wired the money. I started talking about it with Barry when it was still in the New section, and bought it as soon as he provided me with pcs and tests. I will post the BScope results... It's the BOMB!
9.gif

I'll vote along with the I-1 group, because of the feather at 9:00

Well if I was selling it then it would be a picture of a D/IF if I was buying it then it would be a picture of a k/i5 :}
In other words:
First off diamonds are graded at 10x not 15x
Second the focal lenth could be hiding a whole lot of inclusions.

Good for you Giangi. Congrats on your newest stone.

Of course the diamond was graded at 10X. The 15X pic was needed to show detail.

The specs looked absolutely gorgeous, Giangi. I am so thrilled you are pleased with your latest aquisition!!

I voted I1 because I know Giangi has a keen eye for good value.

i have been looking at superbcert, and i am wondering how good they actually look. the pictures online appear to be in black and white, is this true? or are they just real clear :-) i don't want to do down in clarity, however if you can't tell with the color, i would be willing to go down for a cheaper/bigger stone. and, you are all talking about superbcert like they are amazing :-)

Superbcert rocks- I just bought my first diamond from them last month and I have been so pleased with it! It is a J but faces up like a G or an H with the Med blue flourescence. I was able to get the size I wanted without compromising quality. Barry is awesome!!!!! I have already decided I will be getting a pair of J or K earrings from him. They will face up super-white---- and be a steal!!!

no one said anything about the diamond being graded at 10x strm...*slap slap*...read again! the picture is noted to be at 15x...Barry most likely took it at that mag to show the inclusions.

mara sheesh read what I wrote...
1. its funny laugh :}
2. 15x tells you nothing about how the inclusions will look at 10x duh!!!!!!

If you spent 20% more on cut, wouldn't you rave about it to everyone who listened?

You obviously don't know Giangi very well. He is THE creme de la creme of bargain hunters!! Didn't you see Patty's comment above. She saw the same stone and realized what a steal it was??!!
22.gif

As for paying for the quality of CUT,........ People choose to pay a little extra for quality workmanship all the time. Cars, jeans, shoes, you name it. The cutters of branded and unbranded, super douper louper, true H&A's are skilled craftsman. People pushing the envelope to hone that extra 0.1 of a degree that will give an otherwise "so so" piece of carbon that spark and fire us CUT geeks love so!!
